The Spurs situation and Everton

All I know is that no one is too big
to go down and the jackals in the press love to smell the scent of a giant carcass to feed upon.

A club like Tottenham shouldn't be in the position they're in. Neither should we have been. But at some point you've got to fight and unless Spurs do they could easily be wandering in the wilderness for a season or so.
Agreed with the premise but they literally tried to make an example out of us to show "nobody is too big to go down!". Honestly, seeing one of the scab 6 go down would make me almost change my stance on a god.

I think we are learning that someone like Harry Kane can turn a mediocre team into a very good one almost by himself. After they sold Bale for a record price, they wasted a bunch of money trying to reconstruct the roster by adding new expensive pieces. But they were scuffling until Kane stepped in. Adding Kane from their academy almost instantaneously fixed everything. Combine that with Son leaving and their scoring just cant do enough to make up for a soft defense.

I will still be shocked if they dont manage to stay up. But I think I failed to notice that their 38 points last year was really bad because the 3 bottom teams finished absurdly low keeping Tottenham safe all year. This year 38 might be very dicey to stay up.

There seems to be an arrogance in their whole set up, both fans and players . An expectancy if you like.
Everton fans aren't arrogant about their football club. If there's one thing we have learnt during our recent history,And I dont think we needed to be reminded , we don't think we have a god given right to win games. We scrap and fight for every point we earn .
Spurs aren't showing that, yet that is the demand of our fan base. It's acknowledged throughout football the fans kept Everton in the premiership during the recent troubles despite the authorities efforts, do Spurs have that...time will tell.

Too early to have this conversation, especially about our fans being “better”than theirs - because if they do survive, will that then prove that, in fact, the fans have nothing to do with it?

Quite nice someone put this thread up.

I said to a mate weeks back Spurs are pretty much having the exact same season this club had back in 21/22 (not just due to Richi sometimes appearing upfront for them) so I'm not shocked at all they are this close to relegation now.

I know they finished 17th last season but that should've been anomaly finish for them like Man. United. If you discount that they had similar stable top half finishes to here.

The Frank appointment wasn't as toxic as FSW but basically their season has followed the same pattern. Lots of wins and draws up to November although performances not really matching up on the whole. Then a harder run of games through winter and barely winning any of them and dropping right down into bottom 6/7.

Sack poor manager and then the replacement dosen't really get a bounce. From what I remember Lampard won 3-0 against Leeds and then had quite a few losses after that?

Last night for them was the equivalent game of losing 3-1 at home to Fulham (although that was in 22/23).

Also there is real leadership void now in terms of decisions. They should've sacked Frank after losing to West Ham in mid January. Also if Levy had remained there he'd have kept Brennan Johnson until final day of the window.

They probably need to ditch Tudor already just to get a Dyche type in for last 8-9 games as I can barely see them winning a game with the state they're in.

Dyche was at least smart enough to grind out some away draws and find a win and then could manage a couple of critical 1-0s at Goodison, same for Lampard in 21/22.

I don't think in terms of set up or indeed atmosphere Spurs can win those type of home games in the run in, they've won two all season!

Pretty hilarious if they go down which I think is a very real prospect with all the revenue they generate from their cashcow stadium while this club was genuinely on its knees from 2021-24 and still clung on to prem status somehow.

Will be a very interesting final day.
Other than our away form this season, in any other season the one team you’d want to play at home to keep you up on the final day is us!

I think they’ll stay up, but I don’t think it’s because they’ll do anything remarkable. I think they’ll limp across the the line as I can see Forest, WH or even Leeds going on a poor run of form.

Cup team, deluded and toxic fans, media favourite, dreadful footballing decisions, pea-hearted mercenaries all over the pitch, poor defenders, manager and goalkeeper. I’ve never wanted a team relegated more.

Inappropriate Language

Not sure some Everton fans arent that arrogant. I still scroll the match day thread in the build up and read comments that we should be wiping the floor with certain clubs. There is still a bit of snobbery when we play the likes of Brentford for example. They dont give a fck Everton have won 9 titles. But that sense of entitlement gets up my nose in general life not just football fans. I'm a firm believer that you've got to go earn it first.
Im not gona cut spurs any slack. I dont care if they go. But i remember being at Goodison for both the Wimbledon and Coventry games and that numb sickly feeling that we were about to get relegated. It was the latter years that we had much more stomach and fight for it.
Watching them as an outsider i dont know where their next win is coming from. Forest & west ham look like they've a few wins in them.
To me they look gone. If they get to the Everton game on the last day of the season needing something they've done well.

Yeah I hear you with regards on line fans, I was more talking about match going fans.

They have had the worst season imaginable with injuries. With a good manager, they have a top 8 squad.
They’ve also had a chronic injury list. However a club that makes the last 16 of the CL shouldn't be in a relegation fight, that to me shows the mentality of the players. They pick and choose when they want to play.
