The Sammy Lee Opinion Thread

One strange appointment. Either a massive gamble or out of desperation.

Fact is, he's with us now, so like or loath him, as long as he's doing what's right for the blues, he's got my backing.

..I don’t think it’s strange. Allardyce is like most senior managers in any field of work, they are only as good as the people who work for him. He’ll have his job boxed off in that he will be reliant on Lee and Shakespeare to do much of his legwork. He’ll trust them and totally rely on them.

Bottom line is he’d struggle without them.

I think everyone is entitled to their own opinion and mine is he’s a kopite. The breathless berating of anyone is who isn’t content is maddening.

Shows how little expectation we have and that’s collectively more distressing and should be the focal point.

Said it before if he is a good coach, and by all counts he is a very good coach, then I couldn't care less who he played for. he may also bring a winners mentality with him, hence all the passion and shouting at the officials, that is something you cannot teach is being a winner, we have sorely missed it at this club.

I don't like what I know about Fat Sam, I don't like what I know about Sammy Lee, Shakespeare appeared to have ousted Ranieri. I don't want any of them at Everton. If we finish in the top ten I still won't want any of them at Everton. I want the season to be over and a new manager who buys into Everton for the long term to be appointed not three despicable characters who will impose a regime on the club and then claim to be the saviour of a Premier League institution.
Can't argue with that mate as it's pretty much how I feel, albeit most of my ill feeling is do to with Allardyce.

Issue we have now is that if we stay up, the people that wanted him here will say he's done his job. Also, because I want Everton to do well, by association I also need Allardyce to do well, which means he will stay at Everton beyond his contract. So for me its a bit of a catch 22 situation. Maybe I'll warm to him eventually but he's got a job on his hands to win me over. Not that he'll be bothered like.:)

Professionals rise above all that. Ultimately, him playing/coaching there will have absolutely no bearing on what he does for us, apart from that he has played and coached at a high level. I understand that some will find it hard to swallow, but the guy is clearly an experienced coach and knows what he is doing. I'm not sure why it shows a lack of expectation, though. I'm sure he will be fine for what will be a relatively short term stop gap.

He’s here and he’s here to do a job ,we have to accept it whether we like it or not.
It just proves what we already know , that the overwhelming majority of professional footballers are purely mercenaries.
Realising and accepting that should enable us to view them as merely tools to enable our team to perform better and gain more success.
Like most of us they do not care who employs them as long as the pay and conditions are good, if not they’re off.
I’ll support them in a blue shirt (or tracksuit) on the pitch, but beyond that I generally couldn’t care less about them.

Scenes next week though.....

I would rather employ someone decent but has links to them than some of our ex-players who haven't won a jot. Our principles have got us nowhere in the last 20 years.

As much as I dislike that lot they have it coached into them that they are the best in world which enables them to overcome problems, we have it coached into our players that we are punching above our weight and it's OK as long as we try. Lets hope if nothing else this appointment starts to change that mindset.
It will be interesting to see how he reacts if we manage to score next week.

Yes,for all I can't stand and detest about "them" you have to admit they never lack belief/confidence even arrogance(I know it is hilarious when it occasionally goes belly up for them!).So many sides(including us) get swept aside against them as the accumulate so many dodgy decisions it drives us insane, their players/staff are always in officials faces,if a smidgeon of all this can rub off on us, without us becoming them obviously, I'm all for it:)

People have been saying for years we are too soft with officials and are too nice. Hopefully Sammy Lee and Big Sam can change that, let's get down and dirty for a change.
