Just certainty. They are ornaments, have no power, and a lot of folk like them. If that gets some folks rocks off then fine. Doesnt do it for me, but I much prefer that to some elected head of state. With no power.
I would absolutely hate to be a royal. Leave them to it.

So is about 90% of the UK constitution. Thats all they are; a result of the civil war where Parliament won versus the crown. Kept in check as head of state, with zero power.
They do no harm, and on balance, the senior members of them do good. Would have no issue with a streamlining of the extended family mind, cos they contribute little or nothing.

I would argue that they do harm insofar as they sit at the head of a privileged group within British society, a group that I or the vast majority can never join. They are the epitome of "all men are not born equal".

In spite of my leftie leanings and general feelings that they are a complete waste of taxpayer money, I have nothing but respect for The Queen. She is 93 years old and has never really put a foot wrong. I think many people share my view. It will be interesting to see what happens when she pops her clogs. I doubt that Chasrles or William will command the same respect or affection from the British public.
