If you consider how long Dinosaurs existed in comparison to humans, and were only wiped out by global extinction event meteroite strike, why would we not realise that when we think about if there is life elsewhere in the universe that the chances are if there is they would be dinosaur like?

Surely there are meteors elsewhere in the universe

Not entirely true. Time as a concept is needed to make sense of the laws of physics.
