I might be taking a sabbatical until May from this place. AND we lose Seamus Coleman. At least you have the upshot of him staying should you come up short in our gentleman's wager.
Good point! I do think he's going like, not in the know or anything, just seen lots of this sort of tomfoolary in my time, and it all points to Man Utd I'm afraid.

I don't think the players are going %100 but the way Martinez has the set up it would be hard too. If he is sending them out there to play pass pass pass goal kick, pass pass concede a goal, its going to be hard to give your all when your playing in systems that clearly don't work. Out of position or stuck on the wing and in a system that dosen't suit your game like Lukaku.
There the ones facing the abuse right now while plenty are commenting on "what a nice man" Martinez is, don't get me wrong i don't feel sorry for them, its us i feel sorry for, but its no fun being an Evertonian right now, on or off the pitch.

Might be my imagination, but the lot of them seem to be avoiding making eye contact with each other, each game like 11 individuals just getting it over with, the image of Barry dropping his head and staring at his boots is burned into my retina..... Baines looking around like he's in disbelief at whats going on.... the whole group dynamic is well out of kilter

I believe there's a wave of non-confidence going through the players right now and it all stems from the defence. The attacking players seem afraid to play at pace lest they give up possession and it leads to an opposition goal. When we were on form last season, it was because a stout defence allowed the forward players to be less inhibited and take more chances. Injuries haven't helped, and neither has the inability or unwillingness of the manager to play wide med to feed Lukaku the ball with his face to goal, not his back.

The spine of the team against Hull was represented largely by members of a recently relegated Wigan team and it showed. Now don't get me wrong you can obviously pick up the odd gem from such a team and unfortunately he wasn't available, but i don't believe you can expect anything special from the rest.

They're probably all aware that the majority of them aren't capable of playing football the way he wants to, and are frustrated that he insists on playing like Barcelona with certain players who, when the ball is at their feet, couldn't look out of place at Barnsley.

Now, imagine you're in that squad... you know you're not good enough for quick intricate passes but your manager refuses to admit it and keeps demanding you play that way, even after you make mistake after mistake after mistake; you're hardly going to be buzzing about it are you?

Imagine you're a talented footballer like Barkley or Mirallas, and the boss is telling you to pass the ball backwards from set pieces in dangerous positions.

Imagine you're Lukaku and the boss refuses to play your best playmaker, Barkley, in the correct position and one that suits you as a goalscorer, you'd be fuming and literally soul destroyed to see Steven Naismith in that position.

Imagine you're in the starting XI and you see Jagielka, Distin, Howard starting games, you'd be virtually defeated before you stepped onto the pitch knowing that the opposition have basically been gifted a goal already.

It's no surprise it is that the players look dejected and not arsed.

Agreed mate, it's like he's asking them to pass the ball to feet and show patience and then be confident with the ball. A bit like what he done last season, do you remember mate when we recorded our record points total, had the 3rd meanest defence, won 21 games playing that weird brand of football he asked the same squad to do. What a tit he is for asking them to do the same thing again lol

Fluke season, as being proven by what's happening now.

The lack of talking and calling each other is also highly noticeable, you couldn't hear a word from any of them the other day, total silence.

Barring four or five disappointing games, last season with the kind of stats posted by Everton can hardly be called a fluke season. Flukes are totally bizarre results, not a whole season. Now if we go out and batter City 5-0 next weekend, that would be a fluke!
