The Pespective Thread

We're a million miles away from playing in the Champions League and as long as we're skint we'll remain treading water between the European spots and mid-table obscurity.

It's not all doom and gloom, had we been drawn against another other team (apart from Man City) we would most likely be off to Wembley, which would have only postponed the disappointment in truth.

There's nothing we can do, only the luck of the draw would have kept our hopes alive.

At least we're not Villa hey.

I keep trying to tell myself not to get annoyed at our season.

When Martinez was appointed, I thought top ten would be a reasonable goal.

However, having seen our potential, how well we can play at times... It's frustrating to say the least. Yes, we're doing just fine for our first season but we could (and should) be doing so much better.

We should always aim to do better, if nothing else. The board may be content with 7th place mediocrity, but we as fans must always hope for the best.

Getting bounced out of the FA Cup in such a dismal fashion sucks.

Seeing the Champions League dreams slip away sucks.

But we're in year one of a new era that has seen the aura of the club we know and love glow warmer and brighter. Despite a new manager and new tactics, we're still doing as well as or better than we did last year and still have a great shot at Europa League qualification. Which, starting next year, is another avenue to Champions League glory.

Perspective, lads. If this is our rebuilding year, our best days are ahead of us. You will have my permission to fume all you want on September 1st, 2014 at 12:01 AM if the summer window goes poorly.

Until then, perspective.

UP THE MO' FUGGIN TOFFEES.

I think most see it as you see it unfortunately there's an agenda regarding the old Moyes crew who use league position to beat Martinez nothing you can do about it they just don't understand.

Reading Toffeeweb there's fellas on there virtually gloating over the recent downturn in results and always with a passing or inferred reference to Moyes.

Can't be sure they are everton fans but yep for the rest of us "perspective" is the word.

I agree with all the posts ref investment, but thats when the scary stuff really starts. Will new owners put Goodison and Finch Farm under more mortgage debt, change our name, shirt colour, sack Martinez before we bank the cheque, get arrested for money laundring.......you get the idea I'm sure,It was bad enough with all the "Martinez took Wigan down are we next"?

We need new owners. It's a risk, but a risk is better than staying with these robbers who give us no chance of success.

Never mind Tan or Allam, it's getting to the point I'd welcome a blood soaked dictator who shoots trade unionists at HT if he came in and bankrolled a squad.

That website is populated by some very suspect subscribers. I avoid it like the plague.

Completely lost it's way "Toffeeweb" it used to be robust and thought provoking now it's as exciting as a knitting pattern - but less informative.

It's the bland leading the bland with a cabal of Moyes beauts barely concealing their glee when we have a bad result.

Not an Everton site at all if that garbage is going on.

You are spot on. Well at least I think you are...I no longer visit there.

Every year we don't win a trophy is disappointing to me.

But yeah, first year of a new manager and new players, very promising signs, great football at times, europe still in our own hands.

It's hard not to be encouraged.

But as long as it's no trophy since 1995 every cup defeat is going to hang heavy over my head. We need that monkey off our backs and we need it off our backs soon.

Yep, that monkey on our back is also an albatross around our necks and is the elephant in the room.
