Appreciate the ceremony for what it was, amazing.
[Poor language removed] goes on in every sport but thats one big generalisation if you conclude that its rife across all the events.

I had a choice of watching the opening ceremony or the test match. The ceremony was so ridiculous that it nearly kept my attention, but I opted for cricket in the end

Im watching it for one reason only!
Womens 1500m Commonwealth Gold medalist Lisa Dobriskey! She went to my school (Southlands in Kent) and I coached her trampolining. We were both in the school athletics team and I used to be a pace setter for her in training, till she got to fast for me! She also took my school triple jump record which stood for ages till she smashed it! So theres my small claim to fame!

Thats a real shame GOT, the Olympics for me is the pinnacle of any sport. Just ask any footballer if they would want to be in the Olympics and they would all want to. The Olympics is 20 days of sport, all kinds of sport, wall to wall, country V country. Its all the colourful flags and three letter abbreviations all competing to get medals and recognition.
Ive been glued to every Olypmics since '88 when Duncan Armstrong produced one of the most exciting swimming finals ever, and that 100 meters final. Sure they reckon 3 out of 4 of the winners were on drugs, but they got caught in the end.

Theres also a bigger issue at play here. I sat and watched last night with my girl, who's chinese and our flatmates, and this isnt just an Olympic games for them, its kind of the Chinese introduction to the world. They are loving being able to invite the world into their home and show off.

Wrestling - in one of those of I'm getting old moments I checked the roster to see if there are people on the team that my high school wrestling faced. Well it turns out there is one, Kerry McCoy, though he now one of coaches of USA wrestling now.

maybe Gymanstics, basketball, and some track
I used to love track now I can't watch it without wondering who's doped up.

actually id just like to say im saddened by the way the english media is constantly looking to report the worst news about china.
i know the country has its fair share of troubles but it does have loads of positives too and is a progressive country.
i bet not one news channel tells the story of how britain made a lot of wealth by selling the chinese opium , and then how we went to war with china when they had such a bad addict problem they tried to stop the import.we were bastards.
ps in london 2012 i wonder if the same press will show the worst side , the moral decline and lack of basic principals in this country ?
on that note , can anybody see london topping the chinese opening ceremony ? ..... a cultural celebration ?
i can see the ceremony now...........first , drunk fat bald blokes in england football shirts kick things off by throwing up while running round the stadium , punching anyone within reach , trousers round the ankles ,**** tucked in , shouting "oooo look lads im a woman innit !"...............cue cliff richard and davina mcall singing 'especially for you'................then a swarm of 20 stone , fat , chelsea facelift , chav slags with kids that highly stink of poo, push buggies round the stadium to the sound of beyonce - bootilicious ................. then there chav boyfriends follow on a fleet of stolen mopeds to the sounds of so solid crew - 21 seconds to go ..............then cue a colourful parade celebrating englands great history of fly tipping , kylie minogue , transexuals , x factor and pikey charm ............................ followied by a traditional english music extravaganza performance by the tottenham ethnic minority vegan gay community steel kettle drum band............... cue thousands of middle class kids with torches , scary fake cheesy grins, in really really bright colours running round and waving frantically .................followed by thousands of kiddy fiddlers out on day release ,with torches , scary fake cheesy grins , in really really bright colours running round and waving frantically ........followed by thousands of police with torches , scary fake cheesy grins , in really really bright colours running round and waving frantically shooting guns into the air , killing brazilian nationals in the crowd .......................... the flame is then lit , as a 13 year old asbo delinquente called ross from peckham , flicks a rothmans superkings menthol fag the length of the stadium into the torch ............... which is then immediatly put out again as its against health and safety regulations .
