Yes I love cycling Dave. Do you? Really? What kind of performance would you like to see that would make you enjoy the sport?

Bauge has actually failed a test, something none of our riders have, yet you don't say a blind word about him.

The EPO era was typified by people riding off the front of the bunch of favourites and putting minutes into their rivals. Rides like Ullrich at Arcalis or the many wins by Pantani and Armstrong. Neither Wiggins or Froome have done any of that. If you look at the power readings they're well down on the EPO era, despite natural advances in bike technology, sports science and so on.

Yet none of that is good enough for you. So yes I'm going to heap scorn on you, because I know how hard I have to train to be as crap as I am, so can fully appreciate the work these young people put into their pursuit.

If you're too bitter or cynical to give congratulations where it's deserved then more shame on you.

Can you deliver a powerful and well delivered speech to Davek with regards to the entire Olympics? Constantly celebration expectation at every turn.

That's spot on mate the fact as you say that power reading have significantly dropped from 15 years when almost everything else in sport goes the other way tells you how much cleaner it is.

Edit - 6.7w/kg dropped to 5.2w/kg

Exactly, and that's a big reason why Wiggins could succeed because he knew that if he could maintain his power then unless people were juiced they wouldn't be able to jump away and attack for minutes on end as it's not something that's naturally possible.

There's plenty of rubbish in life, so when we have something to truly celebrate then I really can't fathom the motivation behind the naysayers.

It's been three weeks since the previoulsy clean as a whistle Frank Schelck was caught; and Contador is not exactly a creature of cycling's past. It amuses me Bruce that you set the issue up as if it were a thing from the bad old days. If you fail to acknowledge that unfair advantage can and will continue to happen in cycling (chemical or technological) you're basically taking the view that it's all good and that's the end of it now. You're taking that view right now because it suits, as the GB team have dominated.

I dont know whether they in particular have cheated or not. All joking aside, I have an open mind. It's not closed off, and rightly so given the nature of cycling's history.

I was just reading Boardman's flimsy explanation about the dominance coming from wind tunnel technology and materials from the 90s! He's basically taking the piss. There's an advantage gained somewhere and the UCI or whoever will get to the back of that in time. No wonder he's stepping down after these olympics!!
