Sorted my night to get infrint of the telly for these , thought conlon deserved that for the last round .

This won't be easy for selby im hoping his experience gives him enough to get through, think he might just edge it

I don't like the longer "short" races (800m, 400m). They're too long to have the excitement and full out pedal to the metal element of 100/200m races and they're not long enough to have the epic, high endurance appeal of the 5-10 thousand metres events.

Scoring seems harsh since for the first minute and a half the Cuban didn't seen in it but the kid has done well, huge gap to make up for an amateur round to win that

Nail on the head mate , spot on . You'd think the kid was 25/26 , the Cuban are brilliant aren't they he'll take a couple of points off but nowhere near enough

he knows how to score amateur hits doesnt he, very very well schooled that lad, its a shame because I really rate Selby, but he was outwitted there more than anything else, fair result in the end, after Biejing disappointment for them, its always a pleasure to see some new Cubans come through

Yeah the Cubans as so 'skilled' in that art it's a pleasure to watch , I think most boxing fans like you (certainly me) have a soft spot for them , that Estrada the bantam looks good as well . not seen that kid before but thought he looked exceptional especially as we know selby is no mug. I thought though selby fought a little bit more 'pro' than amateur as your not gonna score in amateur for many body shots for example . Shame though but we needs Evans and stalker through , certainly one of them but you'd hope both

I've predicted 4 medals for the men so I need one more through, thers just something about the romance that goes with Cuba and amateur boxing isnt there, after Teo Stevenson passing the other month, lets hope they strikea few golds in his honour. speaking of cubans, lomachenko vs lopez could well be the bout of the olympics, cant wait for that one. completely agree with your assesment though, its not that the Cuban was obviously more talented than Selby, but he knew how to win an amateur bout, with selbys experience that was the disappointing thing, but he s a talented kid with a big future who moves on.
