Jamie Staff there trying to explain the dominace at the velodrome saying the gear might be a factor with Chris Boadman especially involved in bike development.

it's a shocking rule to only allow 1 person for each event and allow it in the swimming, either allow more than one for both sports or only one for both. it is very harsh on us because you see jamaica getting a gold, silver one two for having the fastest men in the world, whereas we could have the fastest two cyclists in the world and only be allowed to compete for gold. would love to see us put our foot down and demand a rule change for brazil. it's stupid when they say it's denying a person like that trinidadian to go for bronze. if he's not within the top 3 fastest in the world then rightly he shouldn't be getting the bronze

The issue with that is that you could have multiple competitors from one nation helping each other to win medals and knock solo competitors out of the competition. That doesn't happen in swimming, sprinting etc.

Then again, the road race allows it.

The prevalence of drugs in cycling tour de France wise was I think was recovery based , namely because of the stage a day. If you look now the energy the cyclists exert after a day on the tour its I think half what it was 10-15 years ago. I think it's probably unfair to point the finger inside the velodrome where they've tried to peak for the Olympics with Pendleton sacrificing her Worlds' performance for the games and where technology , training, strategy and technique does make a difference, being honest though I don't know.
