I understand but it's a very personal thing how one identifies, nationality-wise. I don't think you should force the hand of any of them.

If they feel strongly that they want to represent one country over the other, then that's their right in my opinion.

yeah i know, from the athletes perspective if i was norther irish i would like the choice, suppose it is good that they have the option.

I think it should be up to them to be honest. They're the ones fighting at the end of the day, if they want to represent Ireland, let them do so. If they want to represent GB/NI, that's their choice too.

As long as they don't use up any GB funding.

I'm with you there Mate, make no bones about it there are heavy political, historical and religious reasons reasons at play and the way the system works is generally well received and accepted . I had family at the except yesterday and they said there was about 15% Irish in there but both the GB & Irish fighters got the support of most of the hall.
