The first British Woolworth's opened in Church Street, Liverpool on Friday 5 November, 1909. The Founder, Frank Winfield - INDEED i was told the only shop building they owned in the UK - the rest were on a lease in the UK -

Yes until he died he also took Sally Thomset and Paula Wolcox to see Richard O'Sullivan in the Care Home he has lived in since having his stroke in 2003

Don't know if has already been posted but does anyone remember 'Torchy, the Battery Boy'? Wasn't part of the 'Watch with Mother' stable, although televised around the same time. Some of the characters are quite disturbing especially the pirate. Some of the story lines certainly wouldn't be allowed today
