Remember my mum & nana pouring stuff on my head & combing it through with a wide tooth comb onto brown paper, yuk.

Used to get given something called Scott's Emulsion (fnarr) as a child, similar to cod liver oil but not as nasty.
And seriously, how big is a cod's liver anyway?

I was "given" either cod liver oil tablets or halibut liver oil tablets to ward away colds etc. On one occasion made the great mistake of biting one - unbelievably foul tasting.

You can overdose on these , especially children.

I had my stomach pumped, and spent the night in observation.

Oh nasty. I remember my son finding a bottle of Calpol in my handbag, the top was off and some was round his mouth. I couldn't be sure how much he might have taken so had to take him to A&E and they pumped his stomach, not nice to see , glad he can't remember it
