Have just been to buy some new light bulbs. They are guaranteed for 25 years. I am 69, the husband is 72. Sobering to think that the lightbulbs are likely to outlast us.

My 70year old neighbour put a new fence up recently and said to me" it has a 15 year guarantee that will out live my needs ...."

Just in the process of selling my house and buying another. Will settle for another 15 years!

The last few weeks I've had a pain in my heel when walking. Been provisionally diagnosed as 'plantar fasciitis' (inflamation of the tissue running from the heel to the toes. For those who didn't know, which includes me). Have to get an xray to rule out the possibility of heel spurs or fractures.
Gives me loads of opportunities for a good moan about ageing, health service waiting lists and how much I sacrifice for my family.

I quite like The Oldie magazine. Good cartoons. Trouble is Gyles Brandreth is all over it and I've never taken to him.
