I remember a particularly tense time in the cold war during the early 80s when I was a teen, walking down a high street and bricking myself when I heard an air raid siren. The adrenaline coursed through my veins and I knew I was much longer than 4 mins away from my family.I also remember the periodic testing of air raid sirens during the cold war 1960's.

Why does it look like he's got trousers on?

I remember when there was no testing of air-raid sirens. If you heard one, you were straight in the air-raid shelter.I also remember the periodic testing of air raid sirens during the cold war 1960's.

Getting a bath in the day was fun. I was lucky enough to get third dunk.and it was just the once a week!
Baths revolved around the "immersion" .The purveyor of " when it's gone its gone! "
It used to make the eleccy wheel go so fast it looked still, so we were not allowed to put it on.
onto working days and often i would get in to find it had not been out on it it had been all used up , so I would have to sit and wait for it to earn up enough to get a wash.
Now ,you just turn on the tap and we have got got water 24/7. Bloody marvellous!
I auditioned for that and made the last half dozen or so.
Walton baths (queens drive) had them in the 70s .....clearly remember Margaret St swimming baths in Everton having a load of cubicles with baths in. Never used one myself, but they were busy. Also remember the old tin bath in front of the fire. Saturday night was usually bath night.
