The Now-Irrelevant 2024/25 Relegation Battle (Without Everton!)

I think realistically the best we can hope for is about 11th or 12th but that will rely on us maintaining our current form for most of the rest of the season. Squad is stretched and some horrid games to come. Reckon we’ll end up around 15th give or take. Will take that and move on.

Given the size of our uninjured squad, 15th seems about right - even 16th of we lose somebody else.

Be gobsmacked if we can keep anything like this run of form.

Palace doing pretty well - good result at their place that was.

I'm daring to dream of a higher finish but we have some tough teams to overtake.

Would everyone still be happy with just avoiding the drop now ?
Just a bizarre season. Liverpool basically unchallenged. A relegation threatened team like us are looking up the league after 3 wins on the bounce. So much for competitive football eh.

Why would Wolves winning effect us anyway?
If anything, when you really think about it, it’s actually Wolves losing tonight like they just did, which could be catastrophic for us. No doubt Leicester and Ipswich will be buoyed by seeing that result and now go on an unbelievable run, and both will surge past us and Wolves. Worrying times.

Think is more relief atm but i would like to see a strong end to the season. Every single everton fan deserves some more good results after the crap we have had to deal with. Would be happy finishijg 14th

Win tomorrow and we may as well be completely safe, we’d be 12 clear of Wolves and 17 clear of both Ipswich and Leicester. A draw would still have us 10 and 15 clear respectively assuming Ipswich get nothing from United and Leicester likewise at West Ham on Thursday

I doubt it.

11th or 12th would be a huge improvement and getting as many points on the board now without pressure would be a nice way to end this season. Getting some minutes into some legs like Iroegbunam and maybe a few cameos from Sherif, get the team ready to play the way we want to start next season and use this a chance to see who gets a new contract.

Saying that, if we beat Brentford tomorrow we'll be looking at the possibility of catching Bouremouth 😄

Win tomorrow and the rs lose we can still win the league.

They have gone off the boil since Rashford and Asensio went there, something like 3 wins in the last 9 which for them isn't good.
As I live in the West Midlands I know many Villa fans and its more to do with the players have struggled with the extra games than anything else as they've been happy with both Rashford and Asencio. Emery is probably getting moaned about as he changed to a back 3 tonight which didn't work for them at all so his tinkering is the reason for any fan discontent
