Boris lead crashing in the polls, he's an absolute clown, why has he not just faced it head on and said I had a row with my girlfriend, he'd have got even more popular for being honest and people can relate to that, it would have improved his chances possibly handling it in the right way.

His team have advised him badly on this one.

This really. When the obvious question was asked I was surprised he didn’t just say when had a row over some spilt wine and move on. However, he can still say this at any point in the future, while real questions on substance of policies are not even being asked of him. However, Hunt is doing himself no favours by saying Boris is a coward etc, it smacks of kicking a man when he’s down, now it may play well to Boris haters but it won’t play well with the conservative membership.....

How gullible do they think we are. Looks like they've dumped a few chairs and a table in a fallow field, said 'gaze vacuously', and all is well again in the strong and stable world of the Tory party.

Nice one Boris. Let the haters hate and the hard left nutters protest, it’s your personal life and no one else’s.....

Brexiters haven't had any hard policies since this whole fiasco began Pete. You'll recall the numerous comments from OldBlue about the campaign not needing any real prospectus for how leave might unfold as that's someone else's problem, so Boris wasn't required by leave voters to spell out what leave might involve. Aside from 'we'll negotiate better', what are Boris' policies on literally anything? You're his fan. You're backing the bloke. Do you know?

Very odd tactic by hunt, unless he is thinking about a longer game...

But I thought we were only interested in his love live and the row he had at his girlfriends flat. Surely we don’t want to overburden him by asking questions on policy and detail like that....he’s playing a blinder really.....

I know he wants to leave by Oct 31st. Once he gets us out I don’t care if he remains as PM or not. Horses for courses. We needed Churchill to sort out our last European difficulty and if Boris does similar with our exit I will be happy.......

Who gives a flying one really?

I don't get all this crap about the argument with his girlfriend. All his supporters will see it for what it is and just rally around him.

What you have to do is focus on the fact that he's so obviously shying away from public debate. That's because he's a total blubbering idiot and will tie himself up in knots when put on the spot. He really will. In one respect he's a very clever and cunning animal, somebody who can see the big picture. But it's the detail where he falls down. He has little attention span, forgets basic things like peoples names and facts and figures, and often blusters out the first thing that comes into his head whether it's right or wrong.

I think Hunt is playing this the right way. Get him in front of people and he could be the architect of his own downfall. Personally I think he will see it out, avoiding public debate as much as possible, and he'll end up as PM. Better start getting used to it.

I don't agree Neil. Trying to lure Boris out into the open so he can ridicule himself is by far his best way of trying to close the gap on him.

Even if Boris continues to avoid public debate, which I think he will, a lot of Tory members may see the correlation with the last GE when May avoided direct debate with Corbyn, and we all know how that ended for her.

Err, other policies other than Brexit related?
Knife crime?
Housing shortage?
Manufacturing base?
Prisons?
Etc
Etc
He is playing a blinder by avoiding any scrutiny? You think this is good for a potential prime minister?
Not a hater or a Corbyista, just an interested citizen.
