Of course he’s allowed his own opinions.Pete is ok. I disagree with his support of Brexit, Johnson, and the Tories, but it is Pete's right to have his own opinions, thank God. I would love to meet Pete and the more reasoned debaters on this thread for a few nice pints, and a bit of intelligent debate.
Remember we are Evertonians!!!
It's common throughout British politics for a "charismatic" leader to be followed by a "dull" leader, and vice versa, so that offers a degree of hope. Hopefully if he is elected, Starmer will grow a pair and not have to pander to undesirables so much.I don’t disagree, that Starmer needs to project a better defined image of who he is and what he stands for. If he wants to win the next election.
Probably not my ideal choice for leader, to rip the Tories and galvanise all the potential support, but he’s deffo not Johnson, which is a start.
Imho The next leader (and party) ideally needs to be studious, focused and able to go about steadying the ship. Last thing we need is another gesture muppet. I'm not even sure great change is possible immediately but an awful lot needs to be done. Energy security, housing, the NHS, the economy, inequality and living standards...It's common throughout British politics for a "charismatic" leader to be followed by a "dull" leader, and vice versa, so that offers a degree of hope. We had the highest death rate in Europe and 3rd in the world for the best part of 18 months. He bungled every single aspect of it until he lucked out plundering everyone’s vaccineNo he didn’t. He did what he was advised all along…and I think you are being harsh tbh….Boris played COVID as well as anyone….
People need to stop voting Tory and vote Labour.
It really is that simple in my opinion. Only then will we start to see change.
Who though? I saw the other day that Nathalie Bennet is now in the Lords, despite winning about as many votes across her political career as Count Binface. Ideologically I should lean towards the Lib Dems, but they're generally awful. We're at a point where the primary characteristic we look for is "not being a lying piece of crap", which isn't exactly a high bar.Change won’t happen under Labour.
Things might be a little bit better for people but nothing will dramatically change.
It’s why we have the same two parties in power all the time. People don’t want to change society. They’re happy with it how it is.
I won’t be voting Labour on a local or National level in the next elections because they won’t bring the change I want to see.
If you really want change, get away from the two main parties and vote elsewhere.
I strongly disagree.Change won’t happen under Labour.

Proportional representation seems to work in Europe in terms of getting a lot of newer parties into their respective parliament. Both here and in the US we have a duopoly, which isn't ideal at all. You'd think the parties who most espouse free market values would do most to break up such a stranglehold over things, but I suppose as long as they're inside the tent they don't really care about values so much. That’s part of the problem isn’t it.
Where exactly is the vote to change things?
It certainly isn’t with the Labour Party, but there are a much better alternative to the tories. That’s it though, they’re getting votes because they’re not the tories and not because they’re a genuine solution.
The whole political landscape is rigged. Needs gutting from top to bottom.
I strongly disagree.
This current government has turned this country in to a hostile environment for the poor and minorities. It’s fast becoming a sink or swim society where only the fittest survive. The amount of benefits and welfare that the tories have stripped away, the cost of living crisis which this government have allowed to happen due to the total lack of investment. By their definition the conservatives are supposed to conserve, but the country has regressed hugely since they came in to power. They have completely failed even by their own standards.
Just look at the amount of people using food banks for one. In 2008 25,000 people were using food banks. That figure stood at 2.5m last year. That is absolutely abhorrent and I strongly reject the notion that Labour wouldn’t have any effect on that. Sorry, but that’s a lot of rubbish.
And to be perfectly honest, I’m sick of these protest votes and people not voting for Labour because they don’t get it exactly right.
But what is the alternative? More years of tories because Labour aren’t the answer? Because that is the only alternative for the foreseeable future. So do we vote Labour in the hope that they will make things better, or just let the tories to continue destroying this country and the hopes and dreams of the young and poor because Labour don’t like every box I want? It really is that simple.
Sorry if this sounds rude, but that attitude and protest votes is partly why we’re in this situation.
Think of others but yourself.
I read what you posted, thanks. I just disagree with it.Read what I posted.
I said Labour would make things better but they aren’t offering the change you or I want, they just aren’t.
Starmer courted the left, then cast them aside soon as he won the leadership battle. Look beyond ‘they’re not the tories’ and look at what they’re offering.
Did you see Rachel reeves at the budget announcement? More interested in soundbites and jokes written for her that actually offering an alternative to the rapid cost of living.
We’ve had more than ten years of corrupt Labour councillors ruining the city of liverpool, as well. Countless failed developments dotted around the city because they’re giving contracts to their mates and skimming off the top.
These people aren’t getting my vote anymore. I want proper change so I’ll look for proper change.
I live in the safest seat in the land so I can afford to do so.
If I lived in a marginal, then Labour would get my vote through extremely gritted teeth as whatever I have said above, the tories can not get in again.
