Once Dominic Cummings left her position became almost redundant as she had no source feeding her information. She was basically a useful idiot for the Johnson government for a long time, blindly repeating what Cummings/Johnson wanted her to know and she seemed happy to bask in the attention her "exclusives " gave her. In the last election campaign she basically was working as an unofficial commentator for the government, with several occasions where she was caught out misreporting things. Peston was exactly the same and I am sure they will have used each other as collaborative sources for information, even though both will have known it was all coming from the same source.

Her antics when Pippa Crerar broke the Barnard Castle story were especially suspect - she was in effect acting as a rapid rebuttal unit and (IIRC) to this day has never apologised for putting that first response out even though it turned out to be absolute garbage.

That said, I still think her behaviour over that Corbyn Paris interview was the worst. She should have been fired for that.
