Jeremy Hunt incoming. Played no part in the Covid response so gets to criticise every one else who will be in the running.
Yep, not quite as loathed as Gove, either, I don't think, and he looks less like a pair of testicles wearing glasses than Gove, too.

Although he did have quite a large hand in the Covid response, in that he spent his time as Health Secretary doing his level best to cripple the NHS.

I like this debate. Cameron was competent but posh and evil. May was given a near impossible job but was posh and evil. Johnson is posh and doesn’t care about anything but his own popularity. Probably the 3 worst PMs in my lifetime. Look at the state of things since they took over

I think where Johnson has excelled in his bid for the all time incompetent award and beaten all his predecessors into a cocked hat, is his strategy of surrounding himself with an equally incompetent team.

Now that takes some doing. The law of averages says you’ll get the odd half-wit in every team, but to achieve full village-idiot level incompetence throughout, is an astounding achievement.

With 80 seat majority this should be a stroll in the park for Boris. He had the mandate to do and be so much more than his two predecessors.

So we've got a pandemic that looks like it's spinning out of control and a prime minister Boris who is more interested in headlines about himself who is slow to react out of fear of getting bad headlines or he really believes the guff that spews out of his mouth. Maybe both.

Always reckoned this myth about him able to surround himself talent as nonsense having to endure his mayorship while living "darn sarf," never recognised this myself. His legacy was in awe of the Chinese economic mite and of course courted the banking sector lovingly, well until it went bankrupted itself and the country.

He's had Cameron and May to contend with too.

Cameron takes the prize for me. Utter coward.

Cameron would have been pushed had he not walked. Unattainable position losing the referendum. Losing is up there with benefits claimants and free school meals, its just contempt and disdain to lose being a Tory.

Those were days when Tory Government relied on the comedian for the jokes, now we have Tory Government doing the gags...

I have to be scourged every time I say it but Jeremy Hunt comes across as quite sensible compared to the rest of the gang.

OW OW OW! HARDER MATRON OW!

I am genuinely still astonished we ended up with this utterly hopeless git as PM. If Corbyn had made as many balls ups as Boris the press would have been practically calling for lynch mobs. Incredible the free pass Johnson gets in many quarters. And yes, Corbyn, despite great ideals and more palatable policies (in my view), I suspect would have not handled this well either. But I'd call it out regardless of who was in charge.

He's an incompetent, lying blusterer. In evidence I give you this :

Gotta couple of mates who have several properties each. One would identify as left wing and the other as socialist. I know it causes a bit of inner conflict with their wider philosophies but they’ve got used to the processes and identifying market value.
Also something like a major roof repair can severely dent their finances.
I know one of them lowered all the rents for tenants that had been furloughed and do think landlords get an (often deserved) bad press. It’s a tough one. I tend to see people paying more for rent than a mortgage, which can’t be right, but bad credit or lack of a lump sum, gatekeeps people in the rental market. Especially within the gig economy.

Often left wing people who critique the system understand it very well.

It's not really about slaughtering landlords. It's just about saying, the system is unregulated and too expensive. Landlords will often twist it as an attack. It's not. But housing and rentier costs have gone through the roof, and understandably wages couldn't keep up.

It would be awful for me, as a new home owner, with 20 odd years to pay back if housing costs dropped. I get that. I get it would be bad for landlords. But objectively it's hard not to see it would be beneficial for society.
On old colleague of mine deeply upset her local estate agents when she had to re-let a property after a long term tennant moved on. She is left leaning and only wanted to rent out at a rate that would cover the remainder of the mortgage, which by then was low (one where the couple owned seperate houses then moved in together and kept on one as a rental). Estate agent was desperately pushing her to raise the asked for rent to avoid 'undermining' the local market values.

I also recall estate agents in Bristol aggressively leafleting and offering £200 above the then going rent rate to landlords when accomodation was in demand. They proper stoked the inflated rents in the city at a ridiculous rate.

Oh aye, Brexit is a bed of roses so far. Just ask the rather sore fishing industry. But again, why do people expect different? That's what astonishes me the most. He's proven to be slippery and shallow.
'Slippery and shallow' is an understatement!

They must convince themselves that he only does it to others, those that deserve to be deceived, and that the Conservatives would never do it to one of their own (which they perceive themselves to be).

I always think back to that shocked woman on Question Time a few years back.

Who Do You Think You Are Kidding, Mr Johnson?

Seems Johnson Government have ceased civil war again the civil services, given this and allowing vaccine role out by state agencies rather than their chums, must be some scary stuff being shouted in the grass root shires.

Surprising headline for the daily hail... Looking like their poster boy Boris has had his chips. Actually had to go and look at the newsstand in tescos as I thought it was fake.IMG_20210120_031930.webp
