Correct. Personally I think he’s a lightweight and that he was told what was needed to be done in respect of Covid support. His determination to raise NI was stupid in the extreme, and his 5p reduction in fuel levy was a cruel joke. Taxes should be cut, the NI should be reversed and VAT on fuel eliminated until the wholesale price comes down again. The country will start to move and believe in itself again….

With Rabb or Shapps, both idiots, they would indeed lose. Javid has proven to be too two faced and Sunak has no connection with ordinary people. Both Wallace and Mordaunt have a little more ‘connection’ but not being a betting man I don’t know. If I did place a bet it would be on Mordaunt…..

We need to change the whole way government works, and get rid of the antediluvian workings of the House of Commons. They've forgotten (if they ever knew) that they work for us, not themselves. If they don't accept that, get the feck out.

It's all fair mate. The problem is, after 12 years of economic mis management and spiralling inflation, I'm not sure we can afford to cut taxes, or whether increasing the money supply is prudent.

We need to grow the economy after 15 years of stagnation.

Will be Sunak, I’d say. Poll by JL Partners makes the options pretty clear (accepting the flawed nature of polls etc).

I mean, Sunak is ideologically a million miles away from me, but at least he seems to be intelligent and articulate, which put him streets ahead of the other candidates mentioned.

You feel that Sunaks problem will be the cohort of MPs the Tories have now. The party has been made in Johnson's image, just as the Republicans have now been tainted by the stench from Trump. Even a more serious leader will still have to work with the garbage in the party. The best thing for them is to have a prolonged period in opposition to cleanse themselves.

I think Mordaunt is a fully paid up member of the ERG, so she should appeal to the rabid, nut-job wing of the party.

That’s not good. More of Mogg, Bridgen, Francois and co given oxygen (anyone seen Francois recently by the way ?)

It needs someone who recognises that bridges have to be built, rather than playing to the internal gallery and constantly sabre rattling.
