There's no one with the talent or gravitas to take over.

Politics has become devalued in the UK.

But at least we can have a laugh.

Dorries for PM!

Will be Sunak, I’d say. Poll by JL Partners makes the options pretty clear (accepting the flawed nature of polls etc).

I mean, Sunak is ideologically a million miles away from me, but at least he seems to be intelligent and articulate, which put him streets ahead of the other candidates mentioned.

Hunt???? Truss?!?!?!? Absolute mouth breathers.

Maybe but I notice tonight there are quite a few folk saying due to amount of and various nature of problems in the Johnson cabinet it can't really be anyone who has served within it, this obviously would rule out a fair few people.

Basically Labour dont want Sunak or Javid. Mourdant or Zahawi would be an open goal.

I can't be bothered with any politics tbh, Tories or Labour they are all a bunch of tools imo.
Yep.
To be fair, there is not a party i would actually want to vote for. Even the greens are turning their back on being green.

Why the hell can't one of them just position themselves right in the centre and go sommat like. Let's make some money, but treat people with respect and save us from boiling to death either from the global warming or a bomb.
People don't want much. Just a job that pays enough to actually have nice things and have the occasional holiday and not leave our kids saddled with our debt or having to wipe our arse when we are old cause anything else requires you to have to sell the family gold.

Can't be that hard, surely.

I think Mordaunt could be a dark horse actually. Seems intelligent and experienced. Don’t know a great deal about her policies (maybe that’s a good point from the labour side).

Sunak is the problem for labour. He has the billionaire wife thing which they’d go for, but even I’d admit he got the Covid furlough scheme broadly correct (acknowledging there was big problems for self employed, directors etc).

A factually accurate answer Pete, I’m proud of you.

But let’s get more specific; do we think will it be a liar, a simpleton, a sycophant, a drunk or a sex pest? Or a combination of them all?

This.

I wait unwantedly at the new prime ministers scandals.

Yes. Sunak is a problem for Labour. Hes bright too.

I think hes disliked within the Tories, which will probably prevent it, and could be a problem along the line. Not sure the Johnson loyalists will take to him.

Agreed. They’re desperate for a tax-cutting, vote winning agenda, which Sunak, to his credit, knows is economic suicide.

I do rate the guy though, as being smart, which, is a fking rarity in the Tory party of the last decade.

I disagree - of the possible candidates, I think Wallace or Tugendhat present the worst threat for Labour, because of their background and the lack of association with what has gone on. Mordaunt isn't offensive to anyone over there in Tory-land either. Javid has the benefit of quitting twice but who likes dogs that return to their own vomit? Zahawi does have the vaccine to boast of (with much more justification than Johnson) too.

Sunak on the other hand is both overly associated with Johnson and someone who stabbed him in the back and someone who the public don't really know - he would be a stretch.

I am not sure there is an open goal candidate for Labour - Truss probably comes closest.

Correct. Personally I think he’s a lightweight and that he was told what was needed to be done in respect of Covid support. His determination to raise NI was stupid in the extreme, and his 5p reduction in fuel levy was a cruel joke. Taxes should be cut, the NI should be reversed and VAT on fuel eliminated until the wholesale price comes down again. The country will start to move and believe in itself again….
