…to be fair, Sky’s Beth Rigby tore into Sunak at his launch, much to the rancour of his audience.

This could split the Conservatives even more, the existing Cabinet backing their preferred candidate with the promise of posts under the new leader so some will be left in the political wilderness.

Looking like Sunak v Truss.
There are exceptions to the rule.

Has he withdrawn all of his aliases from the running too?

…amazing isn’t it, Sunak praised the team around him. Raab specifically criticised for withdrawal from Afghanistan which cost lives; Shapps with every aspect of our transport in turmoil.

Surprised at how much Rigby tore into Sunak. I can imagine he wanted her out of there, that stance must damage his chances.

I watched that, three tories standing around her in a very intimidating way but she stuck to her guns. Sunak laughed, smiled joked and never answered a question. He appears to be on a charm offensive and trying to appear as the unity candidate while others are going all out fascist. The best we can hope for from a new Tory leader is that they won’t make things worse for the poor of this country but I believe that is a forlorn hope.
If ever a country needed a general election but I am not sure the English wouldn’t vote this lot back in again.

Praise for the team is a usually sign of leadership, the trick is finding the strengths of those around you and amplifying them or moving those on that aren't competent.

Johnson kept people around to elevate and amplify himself. He just ran out of people to use as human shields.

Praise for the team is best when you don't stand to benefit from it yourself, or indeed when doing so may harm yourself. Sunak is "praising the team" because it benefits him to do so, both to distinguish himself from the narcissistic style of Johnson and to inflate the standing of those who are backing him, therefore boosting himself.

Absolutely. I think with Sunak it's presenting leadership rather than practicing leadership. But it's distinct from Johnson.
