The 'media conspiracy'

The intro to the West Brom v. Arsenal game on MOTD mentioned that West Brom had been "poor" in their loss at Everton.

Its very subtle but again underrates an Everton win, so its easy to feel its part of a wider perception.

Hmm, however it's every opportunity at every media outlet constantly. It isn't accidental imho.

There is a piece on msn headlined Belgian striker challenges Kane for golden boot.(sic). Some would see that as innocuous, but, why not use his name, why use his nationality, It assumes people don't know Lukaku by name nor his club but know Kane, it's just unnecessary, but opportunistic

Gonna be talking about Lukaku in 15 minutes on Sunday Supplement, nice timing given this topic, wonder how we will get talked about.......

Lineker had the huff last night about football being invented in 1992... The conspiracy is that many in the media kowtow to the current successful clubs because that's where the vast majority of viewership and readership is at. Once we win something or get into top 4 it will start to change.

Perceived wisdom amongst Evertonians is that there is a 'media conspiracy' or agenda against the club. That the press actively want us to fail and hate us having top players.

It isn't true though really is it? The BBC chief sports editor is a blue. The MOTD presenter was a record goalscorer. The Sky Sports anchor is virtually the official spokesman.

The truth is that we are talked about like a club that hasn't won a thing since 1995. Like a club that hasn't really troubled the top 4 in decades. Like a club that hasn't really spent significant amounts of money. Like one that attracts average crowds in an old stadium.

The media expect Lukaku to be sold, but lets be honest, most of us do too.

The only way to change the media perception of us, is to improve things on and off the pitch. Man. City were a standing joke until the started to win trophies. Nobody jokes about them now.

The truth is there is no conspiracy or agenda, just one underperforming club, that needs to step up, and show the world they belong with the elite clubs in this country. Keeping hold of Lukaku would be a great start.

This is the correct answer for all these media type debates.

In the last couple of months

Koeman to Barca
Gueye to Arsenal
Barkley to Spurs
Lukaku to Chelsea
Coleman to Utd

I get embarrassed over all this 'media hates us' malarkey, why are Blues so paranoid? The only way to get respect is to achieve things and win footy matches regularly. I've felt the general attitude towards us has started to soften this year, it's amazing what a few good wins do, with a few Class players finding form. When class players find form, they'll always be linked with moves to the 'top 4', and the top players will always want to play in the Champs League, especially when negotiating contracts. Sometimes it'll be their own agent putting it out there to get improved terms here. We have a Manager who was spoken about 12 months ago as being a Barca manager in waiting, he's doing ok and the Barca job is coming available, why do some fans get precious when some of our players/manager get linked with top Clubs/jobs? Do they really think the Press are conspiring to unsettle us? Really? That's the heigh of paranoia, right there. There is no 'everyone hates us and wants us to fail', that's football. We finished mid table for the last 2 years, the Media haven't bigged us up for a reason, we haven't been very good. That's changing, as is our portrayal in the football world. Some of you need to man up.

Considering Lukaku started all this through opening his own mouth, so, no 'rumour'. How do you think he'll get talked about? Nice timing, given this topic? That's why they're talking about him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm not sure whether you've seen the comments from Rom, but it seems he may want out, considering he's one the best strikers in Europe, and he won't be playing in the Champs League for at least another season, id imagine most of the talk might be transfer talk. Omg, the media are trying to unsettle Rom now, aaaaaaagggghh.

Nothing will change until we make a serious splash on Lukaku's contract. I mean 10 year 250k type. Journalists heads will completely fall offffffff....

Make it happen

Do you need to take a pill to calm down lad?

Who said anything about it being a rumour? Not me

I was pointing out that given the panel would be talking about Lukaku and thus Everton then it is interesting to see how the talk in regard to the club, given that this thread was stating a few things about how the media discuss Everton etc.

But by all means - go ahead and rave like a froth mouthed lunatic
