The 'media conspiracy'

Perceived wisdom amongst Evertonians is that there is a 'media conspiracy' or agenda against the club. That the press actively want us to fail and hate us having top players.

It isn't true though really is it? The BBC chief sports editor is a blue. The MOTD presenter was a record goalscorer. The Sky Sports anchor is virtually the official spokesman.

The truth is that we are talked about like a club that hasn't won a thing since 1995. Like a club that hasn't really troubled the top 4 in decades. Like a club that hasn't really spent significant amounts of money. Like one that attracts average crowds in an old stadium.

The media expect Lukaku to be sold, but lets be honest, most of us do too.

The only way to change the media perception of us, is to improve things on and off the pitch. Man City were a standing joke until they started winning trophies. Nobody jokes about them now.

The truth is there is no conspiracy or agenda, just one underperforming club, that needs to step up, and show the world they belong with the elite clubs in this country. Keeping hold of Lukaku would be a great start.

Newcastle never win anything and have been relegated 3 times since 1988 yet the media always refer to them as a massive club, but not us. I believe it is our close proximity to arguably the two most popular clubs in the world ( fanbase wise), so they look upon us as a small local sidekick to those two.

Name me another club outside the top 5 who have had 5 players linked to moves away inside 60 days
The other clubs outside the top 5 are gash, they all get their decent players linked away though, most of them just dont have 5 quality players. Keane at Burnley, Pickford at sunderland, Gibson at Boro, Mahrez and Vardy are linked away frequently, Forrester at WBA, VVD at Southampton. It's just what happens when quality players are playing for teams that arent winning anything.
