That's because you're a bearded psychopath with a loose grip on reality.I expect a trophy every year and think it's a failure when we don't get it.

It's been alright, like.
Not so good that I can't have a conversation about my mortgage without thinking 'no I don't care about my finances, the only thing in the world that matters to me is that everton are doing well to possibly qualify for a competition that they can play in and win next year'.
It really has nothing to do with being worth it or not really. We had our chance to do our business against them, and got 1 point. Even so, we still have a chance of finishing the highest we have in a decade. Worth it? For you, maybe not, but these are two independent things...it's not as if they are linked.

I really don't want to be this blunt, but what the hell... If you seriously hate Man City and Chelsea more than Liverpool as an Evertonian, of if the dislike of those two clubs are even close to matching the dislike of Liverpool, then you've either got a screw loose or you're not from the city of Liverpool.
There, I said it.

The immediate aftermath will be unbearable.
It will be horrific, in fact.
But it will soon be summer.
And the World Cup will occupy your mind for a month come June 12th.
Them happen you are off on a wee summer holiday for a week or two.
Then it will be August and the new season will start.....with EFC in the Champions League hopefully.
And when that competition starts and we are focused on both it and the league in the autumn you won't even notice the buggers.
Take it from an old tIme Blue.....the hurt passes and when we are doing well, as I have every confidence we will be in the coming years, you will barely even notice them.
Until then.....just don't buy any newspapers, watch Sky Sports or listen to talkSPORT![]()
Maybe so. But then it depends what you want to take from this season. Is this the season I remember as the one I got new shoes or do I remember it as the cat rapey one?Undeniable, but still while I would rather us play this well and finish this high than not, it isn't the most I can imagine for everton.
And it isn't so good that I can ignore every thing else.
Am I happy that everton are playing this well? Yes.
Would I be happier if I was also richer, had a hotter boyfriend, burgers were cheaper, trains were more reliable and liverpool were worse? Yes.
People replying to 'do you want liverpool or chelsea to win the league' with 'I don't care as long as everton are slightly better than normal' is like them replying that to 'do you want your burgers made out of cow or horse?'
It doesn't make sense as an emotional reaction. "I can only care about four things today and since I like my new shoes, I have no opinion on whether or not I want my cat to get raped".

The relative success of Everton this season is very important to me, personally. So much so it pretty much negates anything them lot do. I could well be lucky in that regard I accept.
Khalekan is of course right that the insufferability of the media saturation of a RS championship will get lost over the summer, and then we can get back on the front foot when they start losing matches next season. But, as with their 2005 CL fluke, the lasting impact would be another ratcheting up of their support base and of their financial backing, making it even more difficult for us to compete against them. That is why, for me, I'd sacrifice our 4th place for them not finishing top.
It's a mantra i've lived my life by for many years. If this thread has done nothing else, I treasure it for getting you to type that sentence.
I feel like we've stumbled on a perfect metaphor for this season.
