Seeing as we're all watching endless films at the mo, here's a themed Fact Hunt;

The biggest loser in Oscar history is Kevin O’Connell, a sound re-recording engineer. Despite 20 nominations since his work on 1983′s Terms of Endearment, O’Connell has yet to win a single statue. O’Connell’s last nomination came in 2007 for his work on Transformers.

To have your film considered for an Oscar, it has to meet some standards: It must be at least 40 minutes long, on 35mm or 70mm film, or 24- or 48-frame progressive scan Digital Cinema format at a minimum resolution of 2048 by 1080 pixels, and must be screened for paid admission in Los Angeles for at least seven days.

There has only been one Oscar winner named Oscar: Oscar Hammerstein II, who won two for best song.

The record for shortest Oscar acceptance speech is shared by William Holden and renowned director Alfred Hitchcock. They both simply said, “Thank you.â€￾

The Kodak Theater, which has been the most recent home of the Oscars, seats 3,332 people. Not everyone shows up, which is why seat fillers earn $125 an hour making the place look full.

One of the stranger recipients of an Oscar was the British Ministry of Information for their 1941 docudrama 'Target for Tonight'.

Groucho.. Bank Holidays mate.. Why 'Banks' ??

Well, as simple as it sounds, the banks are closed;

The Bank Holidays Act 1871 established the first Bank Holidays in the United Kingdom.

The Act designated four Bank Holidays in England, Wales and Ireland (Easter Monday; Whit Monday; First Monday in August; Boxing Day in England and Wales and St Stephen's Day in Ireland), and five in Scotland (New Year's Day; Good Friday; First Monday in May; First Monday in August; Christmas Day).

In England, Wales and Ireland, Good Friday and Christmas Day were considered traditional days of rest (as were Sundays) and therefore it was felt unnecessary to include them in the Act.

The Act was repealed in 1971 and superseded by the Banking and Financial Dealings Act 1971, which remains in force today.
