Jdawg, been out and just got back and read this.

For my money mate, it sounds like she is after a Greencard so she can have a bit of a better time with jobs and whatever. By the sounds of it, I reckon she isn't serious, but in a way would like the idea of being married, especially to JDawg. But I think ultimately she sounds like she just wants a marriage of convenience.

If I were you I'm back off, I dunno what the laws are like but they are quite hot here about sham marriages. I'd suggest talking to her and finding out exactly what she meant and what she thinks and what you think.

yeah we need to talk for sure. This is why text, IM etc can be frustrating...I have no idea if she was joking or serious. It came completely out of the blue. She didn't put a smiley face or haha or lol after it so I think she was serious.

Here's my problem. I like her. But now, I'll never get it out of my head if she seriously proposed that.

That's a tricky one. Hopefully, it was just a joke and you two can laugh about it, but if it was for real I completely understand being freaked out.

OK. Can't speak for the girl obviously but.... Maybe she's not into depending on this company for her residency. She likes you but would also like more freedom of movement in the job market. She might just be a very pragmatic girl who sees this as an opportunity to be with you and keep her options open professionally within the US at the same time. She seems to have been quite frank about the situation. Talk to her mate. It's the only next move open to you.
