WOW. Well I was joking when I first said it was no big deal...clearly it is a big deal to me. As I've said the problem is I do like her, and do consider her potentially marriage material, but I don't like the idea of being an avenue to a visa.

But yes, I question all the time whether I want to be single or committed, so you're right there.

Genuinely. I know I'm only 17 and it sounds childish but I think that's the best way to go. If you're serious enough in the future then marry her, but if she mentions it again even as a joke you can start to doubt.
