The BLM movement has been hijacked by a small number of opportunist thugs who'll hide by the name as they know any opposition will be met with "U AGAINST BLACK LIVES MATTER DEN M8???"

I have no problem with peaceful protests (albeit not in a global pandemic) however I'll be dissapointed if the silent majority continue to raise no objection in these thugs attacking innocent people and destroy whatever they seem fit.

As said there's no need to. If it continues and stays violent, the government and police lose patience, crackdown on it and its no longer politically expedient to be sympathetic with the cause.

If they had sense, BLM leaders should be strongly wording against further protests as much as possible and backing away. If the far right have any sense, they'll be goading them into continuing as much as possible.

The best result - for everyone - is that the riots stop and political engagement occurs now with the leadership of the movement and government to enact real societal change instead of pulling down statues for some reason.

Indeed, but I meant in terms of "sense" in achieving their own goals, however warped they may be.

Incidentally, the right are actually a lot better at that sort of strategy than the left. I generally listen/read from every source with an ear out to identify what the bias is. Listen to TalkRadio for example and they present the thinnest veneer of balance by having token left wing input, but is in effect a pretty far right propaganda radio station. They constantly stress they're not though and that they're balanced. Whereas the left are just full on upfront with their stuff.

There shouldnt be left/right bias when it comes to standing up to thugs intent on causing bother.

Once you allow people to physically attack people alongside destroying/removing what they deem so fit to in an undemocratic manner then you descend down a very slippery road.
