To be fair, it would have been ignored the first time because that's a nonsense thing to do.

If we were ignoring costs, they could have put in "give every graduate a new house" or "fund everyone through private education from the age of 2" or "don't just triple lock pensions, make them double final salary".

Can't just ignore costings.
I was trying to see if people agreed with what was in there fundamentally that's all :)

But no one - at least on here, as i genuinely believe the site turfs its extreme right posters very quickly (like @EfcJayy) - is going to fundamentally disagree with ideas that make like better for all. The disputes are essentially round the funding
That s good:)
As to funding can't say I have fully digested it all as yet or done the proper maths. But manifestos are always shopping lists anyway imo. The are aspirational and don't always all get fully implemented. For me it just shows the direction they want to go. And that's a good way from what I've seen.

Even if Labour get in and fund and implement a quarter of their manifesto, then it'll still be a lot more than the Tories would do. Barry Gardiner mentioned on Sky yesterday that they've went through every costing and worked out a way of paying for it, and when the manifesto comes out people can see it for themselves. I think it's better having the funding debate when that happens rather than now

How Trustees are appointed
BBC Trustees are appointed by the Queen on advice from DCMS (Department for Culture, Media and Sport) ministers through the Prime Minister. When new Trustees are needed the posts are publicly advertised. Trustees are chosen on merit and the process is regulated by the Office of the Commissioner for Public Appointments.

Qualities
Some Trustees are chosen partly because they bring particular expertise – for example, in finance or editorial matters. But all Trustees share:

  • A commitment to the objectives of the BBC and an understanding of the key challenges facing public service broadcasting in the United Kingdom
  • Support for the remit of the Trust and an understanding of the role of the Trust
  • An appreciation of the BBC's accountability to licence fee payers and the ability to represent licence fee payers' views
  • The ability to contribute to corporate decision making and to think strategically, independently and imaginatively
  • The ability to work effectively at senior board level or its equivalent in the public, private or voluntary sector
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to represent the Trust to a wide range of stakeholder groups
  • A commitment to equal opportunities and diversity.
The Trustees for England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland must have a home or business in the nation concerned and bring a knowledge of the culture, characteristics and affairs of the people of that nation, as well as a knowledge and understanding of the public broadcasting issues and key stakeholders there, or the ability to acquire it".

"
Selection process
Those who apply to be Trustees are shortlisted and interviewed. The interview panel is chaired by a senior civil servant from DCMS and also includes an independent assessor and the BBC Chairman. Their recommendation goes to the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, then to the Prime Minister, and finally to the Queen".

Like I said, State controlled paid for with a compulsory tax that has to be paid and if not prison.

The manifestos from the parties are all well and good - but I think this election will be decided on one issue and one alone - Brexit. Who people trust most to get the right deal.

Labour seem to be consolidating their base which having thought about it, maybe isn't such a bad thing. I don't think they could win this, but they could have really messed it all up for the future and caused a split, really made the damage irretrievable.

But if they get 30 odd percent, keep around 200 seats, then a new leader has far better foundations to build from than maybe looked the case 6 weeks ago.

Disturbing news @chicoazul. Presently in John Lennon Airport. My taxi driver was a Tory. He said he didn't vote but slipped over his lies and said he voted Tory.

Joking aside, I thought he was joking. He justified this by saying he lost his job under Labour at the Dunlop factory. Being only adopted Scouse I can't questioned this statement.

Upset now.
