Yes it is.
The more left you go in the Labour Party the more racist and anti-Semitic it becomes.
Hmmmmmm, I mean, I've got old school trotskyist mates who really arent. Sure, they're a bit left over from the battles of the 80s, but jew haters? Naaa. Especially not the Jewish ones. Weird.

Others I know are Marxists, no real problem with his Jewish roots.

Sure, there are no doubt some tools who shout about conspiracies or the Rothschilds. Maybe others critique the Israel-Palestine conflict and have expressed distaste for the actions of the Israeli state (which you can do without being antisemitic).

But all of the 'left'? Behave. Tory.

Finally read the Blair article for The New Statesman - he's definitely angling for some sort of position in Labour leadership again which makes it so crazy how valueless his position is. He seems to want things to be the way they are and hopes he doesn't have to make a stand for anything.

It wouldn't be out of place as a Times editorial, incredibly culturally conservative and offering no opinions apart from, 'the Centre (wherever that now is) is correct'

Interestingly; there is not one anti-Semitic person on the right.

Scenes if Blair came back to frontline politics. There would be folk taking to the streets. Course they'd soon go back inside, purring with contentment, once the politics whisperer got to work.

Left foot is swinging into action. The grass is greener!

Would love that but dont think it would solve much - just everything would increase in cost to level it off as the average Joe now has more money to spend on cars, meals out, holidays, mortgages etc.

It's worth trying, though, I suppose.

Not sure mate tbh - as someone who's been after a 2nd dog for over a year the lockdown made demand higher so prices have shot up from avout 1k for a KC bred dog to over 3k in some instances which ultimately has priced many people out the market.

The worry for me is that inevitably that would happen in most areas such as hospitality, travel etc and not do its intended target of propping up the poorest in society.

Personally I think it would be better reforming the welfare system and giving greater help to those in need.

Sorry for repeating myself but I think there is a lot that is dangerous about UBI; like tax credits it would probably have the effect of stripping away the requirement for firms to pay decent wages and offer security.

When you add the tax comedies that many subcontractors and the likes of Amazon get up to all you might end up with UBI is a big bill that we the taxpayers would be expected to pay, out of our UBI, and firms who take advantage of it having a much better time than those who don’t.

We still get that right now with universal credit. You have people on 7 hour a week contracts, but work variable hours and struggle to budget as they never know what money is coming in at the end of the month from their UC top up.
Most people I’ve worked with in benefits, are in favour of UBI. Has the potential to make life a lot easier for many
