Whatever your ideology this strategy is really weird...

Yep I don't get it. Labour's problem is an increasing irrelevance with the north - butchering the MPs who are actually northern and somewhat capable seems... err... counter-productive.

I mean if you really have to sack someone useless who puts thousands of voters off ever voting for Labour, David Lammy is right there. So is Emily Thornberry. Kick them out. Everyone would cheer loudly.

At least wait a bit as well!

Rayner sacking makes no sense to me.

Dodds, on the other hand, is as big a political no brainer as you'll ever see. She's hopeless.

The issue I suppose with Dodds would be, why did you give her the job to begin with, and why sack her now?

The last thing Labour need is more disunity. Of the 3 listed, probably the one who needs to go the most, but god almighty this is just horrendous politics from Labour.

I listened to Burnham earlier, and he spoke a lot of sense. About the need to reconnect to those outside of the south east. And old silly b@llocks has decided to go and get rid of working class northern women. You couldn't write this stuff.

What have they done there remit is nowhere near election strategy. Justice and trade... Both have built good constituent vote bases in their tenure as MPs. Thornberry is archetype mythical Tory story they like to peddle , should really be nowhere the professional success she has attained seen people go through lot less than her growing up and need lifetime of mental health support.

today's news from the masters of competence is that Rayner hasn't been sacked, she has been promoted but they don't know what to yet

this has been some morning for the Labour right so far:

At this point, it's worth just having Starmer act as the transitional leader and give him at least one proper election to prove himself or otherwise, and then move on to Burnham.

Can't really see any alternative options. I think Labour realistically had a chance to massively swing the next election but it's gone now.

lol

"Oh crap we didn't know that'd go down that badly, due to our incompetence and all... quick, let's give her another job and pretend it never happened, we just need hours to think of what one, due to our incompetence and all..."

The Tories are the luckiest political party in the world, aren't they. Rubbing their hands together with glee in anticipation of another Labour civil war which will see the incompetent left battle with the incompetent right for leadership of a party that becomes more irrelevant every single day. Sigh.
