You’ve just proved the point.

He’s a man from extreme privilege yet he’s been portrayed as a normal, relatable bloke by the press.

He is but it's nothing to do with being privileged etc. It's because he looks and acts like a bloke who just says what he thinks and isn't faking.

Hence why people are willing to accept his mistakes. Also his comments like women in burkas look like postboxes etc.

Loads of the country found that funny and not racist even when the media were telling everyone it was and to be offended

All parties probably do this but I agree that its an issue. Even quite a few of the Merseyside seats have out of town MPs brought in.

A lot of these towns have voted for Labour for decades with very little improvement to their lives. The media campaign to view labour as a party of London centric middle class seems to have worked. A lot of these people seem to think brexit will still improve their lives which will still have an impact on votes.

It's going to be a hard road back for Labour, I just can't see how they coud manage to win a majority any time soon.

genuinely local candidates would be a big help, especially if it meant the centre wasn’t able to impose policies on them (that wind up local electorates) either

Your just like a Liverpool fan on an Everton website after they have just won the Champions league, shouldn't you be with your mate celebrating or some thing ? The reason they are doing so well is the Tory PR team and the Tory owned media have convinced the Country that they deserve all the credit for the vaccination success, not the NHS and none of the blame for the incredibly high numbers of people, approaching, 130 thousand who have tragically died.
Remember Boris saying we will do well to keep the death rate below 20 thousand, yeah ahead of his time isn't he. One thing I will admit is Labour are definitely not getting their message across and need to up their game, Boris's bumbling tool act is working far too well. That should have read " bumbling fool ", but it fits kinda better, so I'll leave it there.

I have completely changed my opinion of Starmer as a leader as he just comes over as a wet lettuce.
If it is any consolation to Labour I think they won 1-0 by me as when I voted I didn't see anyone else go in.

I'd rather Labour won elections. Most people on here seem to prefer slating the tories and calling people thick for voting tories or liking Boris

I’m past the stage of calling anyone thick for voting tories, they align themselves with working class values more than labour these days which is incredibly disturbing.

However, your view on Boris Johnson is completely wrong and a massive aspect of the vote base have been duped.

Then again, I don’t think they even care if he’s not how he’s portrayed and comes from privilege.

Looks like poor results for Labour and they seem to be losing in all the wrong places. The North East, The Midlands, smaller towns etc. And that's before we've seen any results for Scotland either.

Brexit is still having an impact here from the early results. I'm not sure it will in an election in 2024, so there is a chance for Labour to win some of these places back, but they have to become more relatable to voters north of Watford. It's going to be very heard to overturn an 80 majority in one election but Labour need to have a plan to be in power within 2 elections at most.

Starmer will draw this conclusion: "We need to reform more"...which = "Continue to attack our own members and alienate our own voters to appease the mill town and steel town nazis."

The clueless get should be resigning today.

I said a few weeks back regarding him: gone between 6-12 months. I stand by that.
