You called it spot on a few weeks into his tenure. Hologram nails it.

Shame really, but perhaps post covid/pandemic real politics returning might be his salvation.
He and the party are not in tune with the people they need to get back on board to win elections,
why has he picked a remainer to run in leave area for instance not exactly showing empathy with the electorate he will hopefully be representing, stupid mistake and not one they should be making.

Its a multi layered thing for him.

But for one example, when I saw those photos of him taking the knee, and looking at wall paper, I thought he looked pathetic. Which isnt a great look to show a potential supporter.

I can't really take to him Roydo, not so much the politics of the man, he just seems devoid of any passion, as wooden as a puppet and to tainted by the southern cabal we have had running the party for to long., for my tastes.

I mean for gods sake...you can disagree with starmer on policy etc...but how can people think that human mess is more competent lol lol

Read the papers, watch the news - “his”success over the vaccination campaign is pushed all the time. He is the reason we’ll get out of the lockdown (which he imposed, too late, because of the total failure of his policy).

This is the real problem for Labour, as it has been for years - the media (or at least a big part of it) pushes out what the Tories want. No new leader, or old one, is going to find it easy to deal with that.

Their only hope is what has happened in the past and what may still happen with Johnson, too much power and the party eats itself

I just dont follow that at all.

I dont read a newspaper, other than the sport and the crossword. I glance at the BBC web site most mornings, and other than the covid briefings, dont watch any news on TV.

But I saw those photos of Starmer on here, most likely in this thread, and thought he looked a right divvie. I do hear the hourly news clips on Talksport, and he comes across as an empty vessel.

Like I said, its a shame, but what can you do?

Starmer is in big trouble if there is that scale of loss.

His strategy since becoming leader has been to move rightwards and engage with Brexit voting Britain and present himself as more patriotic than the Tories.

A loss in Hartlepool and a poor showing in the local elections needs to be met with a change of direction. If he carries on and fails to change he's done for.
Starmer is in big trouble with any type of loss.
The Tories are up to their eyes in sleaze and corruption and
Labour go and lose another Red Wall seat? Not acceptable.
Question is: who would replace him? Who would want to replace him?

Hartlepool isn't at all surprising if you look at the votes Farage took at the last 2 elections. Anyone could have seen it coming. Corbyn only held it because of the Brexit party.

I really don't know what the answer is for Labour though. I think there's a pretty big realignment going on in British politics at the moment and the cards have some way to fall yet. Things could get very messy.

This current lot of bastards will need to be reckoned with at some point. They're covered in blood and the stench of corruption and given much longer will see the breakup of the country, indeed if that's not already inevitable.

Has anyone thought of asking why Labour voters will be voting Tory? I mean, it may well be Starmer, but I wouldnt make the assumption myself.

Labour are going to lose massively in Hartlepool. It's time for Starmer to quit as leader. The Tory party is in the papers almost weekly for corruption and Labour are somehow losing key seats.
That seat would have been easy Tory last election if the Brexit party had not split the vote, (they polled 10K). So a labour win isn't on the cards short of pulling a magic candidate out of a hat and that hasn't happened.

Now is not the time for one's arse to drop, basically. If it's an absolute pummelling then yeah some serious questions need to be asked but losing the seat isn't any sort of litmus test for labour.

Will have to be somewhat mirrored across the country in the locals to have a knock out blow on Starmer. If Labour perform badly in both it's ta ta Keith!

Labour have no right to expect retaining Hartlepool even if it's them that had national majority given what's gone on.
