Just being a normal person would be a start. He comes across as wooden as Theresa May. You do wonder who's advising him though? He's taken a plane to Scotland to discuss trade in the year of the climate talks, and spoken about how building bombs can help to bolster communities. Just needless gaffs, and that's before his apparent determination not to criticise the Tories for anything Brexit or sleaze related.
It’s fair to blame advisers to an extent but he has the power to say ‘actually that’s not a good idea’ He must be able to think for himself. I don’t get his refusal to really try getting things to stick on the tories either. He’s just flip flopping around and doing a spectacular job of losing more voters.

It is weird. With the encounter today, you would imagine this pub had been assessed and vetted rather than simply picking one at random to turn up at, yet not only does he not appear to know that the landlord is an anti-lockdown guy, it's not really clear that he knows he's the landlord in the first place. Surely him being unwelcome should have been picked up before he even got there?

What a shambles that was from the Labour team today. I thought Starmer's USP was that he'd give the party an air of professionalism and competency. That was anything but.

‘This pub looks like a good one to sit down and have a chat to regulars about immigration figures plus a good photo op. The Bigot Arms. Excellent. Do you have old furry brown squirrel on tap?’

Is he even the landlord? All very odd.

*edit Companies House would suggest yes (assuming there is only one Rod Humphris in Bath)
‘In 2004 Rod was bored, his partner at the time was bored and his best friend was bored so they bought a pub. It's in Bath, where Rod live, and its called The Raven. It's turned out okay. The pub win awards and, far more importantly, it has customers. It's a nice place to work too. You'll find Rod there three days a week, doing the accounts, pulling pints, doing the washing up, whatever needs to be done.’
He’s basically @peteblue

What the hell are Labour playing at? That was absolutely shambolic, letting that happen.
The bbc article says that starmer was invited by a co owner and Rod has basically hijacked it and started spouting internet facts at him. If Rod is a lifelong labour voter then I’m Enoch Powell.
Not Starmer’s proudest moment but not entirely his fault I think.

This. That shouty guy sounded like he had a screw loose with his stats no doubt sourced from some dodgy anti-vax Facebook group.
