I agree with a lot of this to be fair. But what was different from Corbyn and Momentum and say Benn or Kinnock when Militant (who were far further left IMO) were active and you voted for them?
Labour will remain in the political wilderness for many years I think and part of that is due to the people who control the media wishing them to do so.
They need to set out clear political positions, communicate effectively with the population and properly hold the tories to account at every step.

The latter were hard nosed whereas the likes of Momentum have an image of being snowflake do gooder types.

I've always said Socialism doesnt scare away the centre ground voters its the self hating ideology that comes with it that puts people off.

I dont like being called gammon because I dont agree with BLM protests so why should I get behind these people? Is what many would be asking themselves.

I dunno. I tend to disagree. Nationalising railways and broadband are hardly extreme positions. Conservative policies were largely and intentionally unknown. Think many people were largely put off by his ambiguous brexit stance.
Think this ignores the point Blair made in that video posted a few days ago - individual policies can be viewed favourably or unfavourably, it's the whole package and narrative people really respond to.

It was 2019 and he was selling people 1970's solutions.

I agree with that to a point as well. I watched that vid. Still think Blair is toxic mind you but no doubt a very smart politician. Was thinking of that actually when you said your mates thought his policies were bonkers. For me, especially in the last election, policies didn’t matter at all. Except on brexit of course.

Oh yeah Blair is as toxic as they come - still head and shoulders above anybody around today though!

TBF even his "ambiguous Brexit stance" is a perception that has a lot to do with how he was reported - before that it was that he was a secret leave voter.

The Tory Brexit stance went from remain but I'll implement what you decide, to I quit, to we are officially leaving!, to lets have an election tho, to Brexit means Brexit, to Theresa May's deal, to this thing about NI is unacceptable and the Foreign Secretary quits, to no extension, to lets have an extension, to lets have a different PM, to no deal, to lets sign up to this NI thing, to oven ready deal, to passports for fish.

The main second referendum crowd even got as far as suggesting they'd not implement another leave vote too. Positions changed for everyone, but what is called flexibility or pragmatism in a normal media is dithering or indecisive in another one.

The evidence appeared to point to Corbyn being the issue, not the policies. Although we might argue the toss about Corbyn and Brexit there is evidence that the public does have an appetite for a move toward some of the policies the Corbyn team put forward and away from Tory policies of the last decade, Covid aside..

Starmer trying to talk to a member of the public like he’s addressing parliament gives a fair indication of everything he’s doing wrong. Why can’t politicians try and talk like normal people at times ffs
Just being a normal person would be a start. He comes across as wooden as Theresa May. You do wonder who's advising him though? He's taken a plane to Scotland to discuss trade in the year of the climate talks, and spoken about how building bombs can help to bolster communities. Just needless gaffs, and that's before his apparent determination not to criticise the Tories for anything Brexit or sleaze related.
