Because it’s denying that something existed when it quite plainly did. If I were Jewish, and I’m not, then I think I would take offence in the same way that some holocaust deniers try to suggest either it didn’t happen or it was not as bad as reported. I’m not sure I can explain it any more simply than that.....

It is absolutely nowt like the same thing, Peter.

Your not Jewish and your not Labour, who knew...

"We are appalled that Jeremy Corbyn has been suspended and had the whip withdrawn. He has a proud record of fighting all forms of racism including antisemitism. We call on Labour Party members to protest against this unjustified outrage in the strongest terms and through all channels available to us. This is an attack not just on Jeremy, but on the party membership. Do not leave, organise and fight back."

Just as well NEC elections is open until 12th November... :)

Neither Corbyn nor Starmer are working class and nor were their families...and this is about Labour and its racist anti-semitism. But you carry on with your whataboutery.....

He's learned about whatabouttery and he's trying to use it, but just not quite there. Mad what you think the elite is.

Do you think any Jews would find it offensive when you try to draw a line between the current German nation and the Nazis and suggest they are similar?

Talks ongoing to end Corbyn's suspension according to press reports tonight. Starmer will climb down. He created a problem where none existed and will lose face.

He possibly chanced his arm to test the strength and resolve of the left for a fight and it looks like he shat his kecks.

'Research conducted by YouGov over the last two days, which involved 1,852 UK adults, has found that Labour’s approval rating fell from -11 to -23 this week. The new figure means the score is at its lowest since May.

The snap poll suggests that support for Labour among its own voters has dropped since the EHRC report was released on Thursday and Corbyn was suspended from the party, but that Starmer is now seen as a better leader.

Starmer’s personal approval ratings have fallen slightly after the crisis, from +5 to -2 across all voters. Among Labour voters, his net favourability has fallen from +53 to +40, while among Conservatives it has risen from -45 to -35.'

This is going to get swept under the carpet now with another lockdown looming

Possibly. And that issue is way more important, which is why it was unforgivable for Starmer to try and provoke the left in the LP.

FWIW I think the party officers looking at this will conclude that there was no *AS* at play in Corbyn's statement and that there will be a reminder to him to try and stay on message...which is a huge irony given that he was never afforded that when he was leader.

Starmer has tested the water and found out it's way too hot to attack the left while the unions are still under the control of Corbyn's friends if not Corbynites.

Isn't Starmer getting the same blame as Corbyn did when leader as in its actually the Labour chairperson. Lavery under Corbyn and now Evans calling the shots discipline matters?
