It’s good to see an opposition (Labour and SNP) raise a sensible issue and a Prime Minister show leadership by listening, reflecting and acting immediately... I have no real regard for the majority of politicians, but for once they all performed and behaved admirably......

Given that BJ was still defending it yesterday I feel like the U-turn is down to backbenchers more than the PM.

But yeah, either way, it's good news for all.

No, the reason he changed the policy was fear of a backbench revolt...all the tory ministers were defending it this morning. Leadership? Joke more like.

I think it’s more to do with his hospital stay tbh. He probably checked the numbers, decided it was pennies and just overrode his cabinet.....

Jesus Pete, you are spinning so much you must be dizzy.

When challenged by Starmer at PMQs he said he had thought a great deal about it and taking money off them was the right way forward. BoJo holding this view is despicable.

The U turn happened to head off the brewing Tory backbench rebellion.

So you are saying we should be congratulating the Tory Party.....fair enough....

The Tory backbenchers definitely saw the way the wind was blowing - but it was Starmer that challenged the Government and started the media and public backlash that those Tory backbenchers responded to.

This isn't credibly spinnable for you Pete.

The SNP raised the same issue. So now Boris has shown both Labour and the SNP that if you make a sensible point and don’t jump up and down like an idiot, then you may get listened to. I think this is just Boris putting Starmer through his indoctrination training.......oh, and getting political plaudits for doing so......

You're the one who is indoctrinated mate. BoJo could take a dump in your hat and you'd thank him for the hair compost.

A piece of advice - If you ever go to Goodison again, do yourself a big favour and keep your swivel-eyed Tory propaganda to yourself. It will be for your own good.

What does that mean mate?

I’ve been going there for over 60 years, and I don’t take advice from junior apparatchiks in Whitehall, thank you all the same...
