That isn't true is it? Even for you that's a big steaming pile...

Let's be honest. Momentum breathed a bit of bloody life into the Labour Party. Do you remember the state it was in after the 2015 election? They'd just supported austerity and still got trounced at the ballot box. The party had absolutely no idea where to go or what ideas to put forward. Their failings left a void for Corbyn.

The idea it's Momentum and Momentum alone responsible for where the party is
now is laughable and also demonstrates the right wing of the party have learned absolutely nothing whilst they've been in the wilderness.

Said it a few days ago, and the result kinda bears it out. Johnson, what ever you think of him, offered a picture of hope and optimism to a significant part of the electorate, who are not going to read his manifesto, line by line.

Corbyn told the same folk that everything is dreadful, we will spray a few bob at you, but didnt give anyone an answer to the question they wanted answering.

I do, and am still astounded by those who throw around labels and names as a catch all for everything wrong, that's proper scapegoat politics that belongs to the right.
Labour were left with one position on Brexit due to the right wing PLP targetting labour as opposed to tory policy. But of course it's the far left (sic).

Equally if the RLB/Burgon dream ticket win through the left will have learnt little. This is the knife edge on which we stand.

I have no problem with Momentum/Progress but they have to play nicely and exhibit a sense of the reality for the world around them.

I have major issues with the membership choosing the leader though.

Johnson didn’t, though. He repeated a statement which makes very little sense whilst his creatures went more negative on Labour than at any election we have ever seen.

As a message of hope it was rubbish, but as politics it was effective.

I will say right now that Burgon should be nowhere near it. I'm guessing he qualifies because he's from the north because apart from that I see nothing else he has to offer.

Hard left? Seriously? Wanting investment in hospitals, schools, social care, this is hard left politics is it?
After Cameron the 'right' in the party constantly and consistently attacked these policies and Corbyn personally despite the policies being implemented at conference. They answered to no one, not the elected NEC, nor their members, they went on a wrecking spree. The PLP right never attacked tory policy, yet regularly attacked labour policy they were elected to promote. From Watson to Umuna, Berger etc they all did the tories work for them, not only did that not promote the option of a better way it displayed disunity handing the clear election campaign to Cummings, so no, the 'agenda of the hard left' only exists in Mail and Telegraph readers and those duped into the 'four legs good' mantra of get brexit done.
Much of the manifesto was good. However they failed to sell it and were too weak to deal firmly with anti-semitism and god help us if McLuskey got close to a government, bullying ratbag.

I want a Labour Government and despite my reservations it was a better option than anything else. But they failed and we all new he would fail, he could not even beat May. He was too stubborn to realise that, now god knows...

Well, last time I looked, it was a political election.

And I think Labour didnt need much from help from anyone to find themselves where they are.

It's strange as I don't think it's as bad as people make out, but in other ways it's worse.

They are in a similar position to the Conservatives in 2005 (albeit the tories had gone in the right direction, Labour in the wrong direction).

Demographics are very much on our side. There is stuff to be optimistic about.

There are key questions about how do we win without Scotland. I think on one occasion we have won an election without Scotland. It's a big loss. Nobody has any right to govern, but if intellectually we can find the right solutions things can turn around quickly. I do have my doubts that there are people of the intellectual capacity to do so though.

Not really, Boris will no doubt push through the Boundary Commissions recommendations and reduce the number of MP‘s to 600, while readjusting the size of each parliamentary seat, which currently favours Labour. This will even the playing field for the Tories. Unless Labour finds a way to wipe out the SNP they will remain the party of opposition....

Could you explain what that 'picture of hope' was?
