You fellas follow the bloke far more than I do, but where is Corbyn at the moment? Seems quite an important time for a number of reasons yet he doesn't seem present in the media, leaving it instead to McDonnell over the weekend. Is he not well?

Peter Oborne reviews the Tom Bower book:

Well worth a read, just in case you were under any illusions about the true nature of political discourse:

Time after time, Bower makes assertions that are not backed by any evidence. The problem is so bad that I resolved to carry out my own investigation into the truth of some of the assertions made in Bower’s book. This article is the result of my research. Again and again, I have been able to prove that his account of events is false, misleading and, in some cases, pure fabrication.

I read this about McDonnell supporting this policy this morning.

A think tank has come up with scrapping the tax-free personal allowance of 12500 and replacing it with £48 a week for everyone on under 125K and lowering the higher rate tax threshold from £50 000 to £37 500.

This would make it impossible for me to vote Labour. It would be taking thousands of pounds a year out of my pocket in one fell swoop which no one tax change should do. It's ludicrous anyway for anyone living in London on a middling salary.

"For someone on £25,000 a year, the personal allowance means that the first £12,500 of their earnings, from this April, are not charged basic rate tax at 20%. This is worth £2,500. But if the same person is paid £48 a week instead, they will receive £2,496 a year, so they will be no better or worse off. "

As for the top rate, that would make the average worker in London fall into the top rate of tax. Seems just o_O
