As a point of order isn't it 1.5m over the 5 years in power? I don't think anyone committed to 300k per year.

Also, it is 'homes' so houses is another misconstrued bit.

A few brutalist Eastern European style apartment blocks in every town and city will sort all that right out.
UK have one the lowest percentage of people living in apartment buildings in Europe. Im not exactly sure why that is the case. Very common here. Maybe it’s a snob culture and it’s seen as low grade housing or something? Would say that the housing designs are usually cheap and horrific though.

Mate of mine moved in to a brand new ground floor apartment building in Edinburgh. He was having problems with the drain beneath the shower so we took apart the panelling and there was an empty bottle of buckfast that the lads fitting it must have chucked there. Plumbing on the whole building was a mess.

Mate of mine used to work driving a forklift truck on Building sites for a few large property developers. Sone of the tales are hair raising. He is adamant he'd never buy a new build. I rarely talk to tradespeople who have much good to say about working on them either.

Which is another problem. We don't build many homes and the quality is questionable.

I'm only part joking about Eastern European blocks. The sister in law has just brought an apartment in an old communist era block and is modernising it. Easy to work on, decent space, warm, and no noise from the neighbours. The latter is definitely a factor in modern British flats, from what I've experienced. There's no snobbery about them, mix of older residents, young professionals etc.

The new build housing estates I have seen look completely souless as well. Always looks like we’re trying to copy the US.
Apartment buildings here are all unique with different entrances and layouts. I don’t particularly understand what an architect in the UK does.

It’s OK guys our financial issues are sorted. Free Gear K has now told us that AI will save us by delivering a lot of stuff that the public sector does. The man is living on another planet if he thinks any of this will be adopted by the public sector or its unions. Can’t wait to see what he comes up with next……..

Boris Johnson said he would rather see "bodies pile high" than take the country into a third lockdown.

Yeah, yeah, don’t forget Brexit, 22 Billion black hole, fixing the foundations, yabba yabba yabba. Meanwhile do you have any kind of view about the financial crisis Starmer and Reeves have created or Starmers plan for AI to save the day….

In June 2024 Caplin was suspended from the Labour Party due to "serious allegations" made about him. The allegations were not made public.

Nonce was kicked out 6months ago.
Suspended not kicked out. Anyway this guy as head of the Jewish labour movement whose sole aim seemed to be about being Corbyn down.

No, im just glad we no longer have a mass murderer in charge of the country.

Disgraceful comment from someone who kept defending the Chinese over Covid origins. Well let’s see what the age related deaths are over this cold spell for OAP’s without their winter fuel allowance. Hopefully they will be kept low…….

Should have gotten himself diagnosed with some vanilla mental condition and signed up to rehab and therapy so he could then be the victim. You know, like multiple offender chris pincher.

Also, if he's only under alleged inappropriate txts, why is it ok to make it public now and not last May/June?

That’s a high bar for Starmer to get over pete

New build estates on the UK are all about cramming in as much into the space available as possible. With uniformity to cut costs.

Rented a (very) small house on a new build estate on the outskirts of Swindon, which is festooned with them. Four houses in a block, no garden. Teeny. Spare room was basically a broom cupboard. Marketed as family accommodation. Fine for me, not sure how the couple and their baby daughter next door coped. No storage space at all. Similar were selling for circa £170k in 2017/2018.

Madness.
