Labour are in a impossible situation where 6 in 10 of the public think it's been a failure but yet there isn't an open and honest debate about the economic damage it's caused. Added to that the rabid right wing media and populist politicians are just waiting to pounce on any sign of a closer EU relationship.

Meanwhile, the factual evidence of Brexit disaster mounts up. It's like we're in quick sand and we don't want to acknowledge it.

Anyone that's expecting a miracle of substantial economic growth against this backdrop is deluded
