The tip off to the coppers and from there to the CPS was from an ex-copper who'd stalked Haigh years ago when she was a Special Constable.

So, Starmer - quite besides throwing her under the bus having known about this phone business because she'd informed him prior to being given the Transport position - is now in a situation where he and his henchman McSweeney have stabbed a woman in the back who was a victim for the second time by a stalker.

Oh dear.
But she resigned, probability it was agreed by her and Starmer, as Labour are held to higher standard than those in the right. And many who will try and play about with narrative. Its pointless in my view holding themselves to higher standards when in office, as in how it will change votes, not enough to sway election anyway. Most who are outraged over Haigh are just pretending because it's Labour.

Tbh I don't like the the fact labour have forced her to resign. I understand we want politicians be be at a higher standard, and certain crimes or behaviours like Tories breaking the Covid rule, are just cause for resignations.

It does for me send a wrong message that even after you have faced your punishment you can't then move on and integrate back into society or even be someone that can be a representative, which after all isn't that the point of any justice system? To learn from your mistakes and be rehabilitated.
Agree rehabilitation is suppose to be thing, a spent conviction. This is more about how "client media" hold Labour to higher account.

I'm not outraged by it. I'm pointing out the hypocrisy and insecurity of Starmer.

He's in the process of building a huge base on the back benches who'll be disgruntled and sharpening knives ready to plunge them in the first chance they get.

He'll be off out the country again this week to avoid stuff like this. I think it's becoming obvious why he spends so much time abroad: he's a clumsy parliamentary operator and cant hack it dealing with internal party considerations; he's more at home meeting other world leaders and pushing an international agenda on behalf of the United States security apparatus...his real employers.

Politcally she had to go, with how our "client media" operates with built in unfair bias it will promote. Think it's fair Stamer has underestimated how virtrloic it would be as Labour PM. To be honest I've been taken back how the "far left" will suckle on the teet of capitalists and free market client media, when it suits. "My enemy enemy is my friend".

No mate. They haven't moved an inch. The right wing media haven't moved an inch either. There's a convergence not a pact against Starmer and it's been brought about by him. It's Starmer who's created this situation by destroying almost every promise he made when running for leader back in 2020.

This is all about consistency and principle versus hypocrisy, lies and 'pragmatism'...when it suits him and his rancid inner-circle.

The perfect description for Johnson's government

Being reported that she was not entirely up front about events of her conviction when appointed and basically has broken Ministeral code. No choice but to ask her to resign given the rhetoric around "integrity". You should be happy Starmer has kept a pledge, integrity of Government to reinstall trust, not for one second you will be like.

I'm happy with the current government and leader. Upsetting the apple cart is long over due.

About time a government made tough decisions not based on lacing the pockets of their mates but improving the country. Even if it means temporary pain.

Metaphor I have on moving the UK to a more fair open honest country is like trench warfare of world war one, where success was measured in centimeters. There will be no collapse of capatislm or free market, greedy self-interest will torch all if it comes to it. It will need to be pushed centimeter by centimeter to hand back wealth. Fairness for all by taxes and regulation.

The right wing press should be ashamed of themselves, it’s night and day how they do their jobs when the selfservative are in power versus when it’s a Labour government.

This Labour government, for all its faults and self inflicted wounds, will get at least two terms grace from me to try and unravel and repair the disgrace of a country they took over.

It’s pains me how short some voters memories are.

They're not tough decisions, they're class-based decisions; and on that score this government already has a woeful record in shoring up existing class arrangements with maybe only the settlement with rail unions as a feather in their cap. The rest could have come straight out of the Tory playbook.

Trouble is right wing press won't feel ashamed, they will be pleased with themselves, and those who support right idealogy will be pleased, more pleased. They only pretend to be outraged because it's suits current circumstances.

I dont think that's correct.

That sounds like spin that comes from the flunkies who a leader surrounds themselves with to preserve credibility.

She gave advanced warning to Starmer about her conviction and his office had it within their power to check out the whole story. They didn't and now they've acted to push her out when a disgraced former copper who stalked her has turned up with a story to settle his vendetta with her.

Starmer's a rat and his backbenchers will be all over that and biding their time.

Nice try ;)
