The benefit of Labour getting ahead of the story: Shapps is on Twitter whinging that there isn't enough media coverage of the Haigh resignation, that the BBC et al always treated Tory ministerial resignations as huge news.

That's because Grant (or is it Corinne?), the average Tory resignation usually came after weeks of denials, evidence emerging of a No 10 cover-up, and usually had a far more serious allegation behind it.

But apparently, Free Gear Never Here Two Tier Keir has known about this for four years. I think he’s the one who needs to answer a few questions, in his most pious tone of course……..

It's the only approach available to the Tories now and Cleverly has made that point already (keeping himself in the frame for when Badenoch gets the boot), but it's bad timing because the Assisted Dying Bill is going to take up the rest of the day, and by the time the Sunday morning shows are trying to get an angle going on it and delve into the actual offence people will probably wonder what all the fuss is about, it's not remotely a 'sexy' crime, of less interest even than Rayner's CGT affair.

As you were in such strong support of the Tory’s and in particular serial liar Johnson, throughout all of their scandals, lies and deceit, your comments on this topic are irrelevant.

Otherwise it would paint you in the light of being a weird, double standard bearing buffoon.

Which of course I’m sure you aren’t.

The aftermath of the Haigh resignation in the media will be to ask Starmer why - if he knew about Haigh's fraudulent claim for a new phone - did he make her a Cabinet member.

But the real story here is Starmer laying down the law to his Cabinet members and the back benchers that he wont tolerate any dissension, which Haigh did when carrying on criticism of the P&O deal a month or so back after it became Starmer's view that their union busting conduct should be ignored for the sake of investment.

This is all about internal 'Labour' Party discipline and Starmer is prepared to ride out any embarrassment over what he knew about Haigh's misdeemeanour to secure it.

As I mentioned, last week I was at the Lords for a thing on helping people back into work, and indeed society, after their release. The evidence is overwhelming in that it benefits the individual, their employer, and society.

They could have made that point here, but it's like migration, evidence goes out of the window when an issue becomes political.

At least there’s some accountability being shown as oppose to the previous 10 years of ‘move on’ culture.

Tories should do well to remember that. The likes of Patel have committed far worse.
I’m struggling a bit with it as starmer knew so why has she ‘been resigned now’ , I can only assume there is more to come or they didn’t want more bad press . if you know and you can overlook it you should you react when The press jump on it ?

Maybe he wanted to be seen a decisive or something .

Weird mind that the majority of written press and various right wing media seem angrier about this woman who has apparently told the truth about the fraud than the Reform MP who assaulted a woman and lied about it .

Exactly the same as the Summer 'scandal' which was (with one or two exceptions), all about gifts that had been declared in the name of transparency. Labour following the rules = bad, Tories hiding who their big donors are by keeping everything off the books = shrug.

Then numpties like Dave start calling for a ban on all gifts and donations which, surprise surprise, won't affect the undeclared ones being funnelled toward the Right one bit.

I’ll not attempt to say the government have been exemplary since taking office and they’ve made some real missteps, that in all honesty seemed easier to avoid than make . However more than anything the last few months have definitely showed me just how much influence the majority of the media have over the vast majority of the populace . It actually feels a bit scary
