I'll be potentially controversial and I think Pete has a point here.Dear God, is that really your level of understanding of farming, Lords and Ladies, titled gentry. Now in here, everyone and his dog agrees that the super rich should be taxed and certainly I’ve mentioned this many times. However this tax will hit all the wrong people, those who own and directly farm, as their families did before, and who own farms with acreage adding up to a few hundred acres. Reeves and co have got this completely wrong in terms of numbers affected and the destruction that will follow. Most farms will fall into this tax trap. If it was set at say £20-25million and above it would catch the very people you are concerned about, but they have completely screwed this up. Just ask yourself this, were the farmers demonstrating in Wales, London etc Lords and Ladies, Titled gentry or the super rich?. It’s hitting the wrong people and is another botch job……
So just talking personally I’ve repeatedly said I’m open to being persuaded that farming is a special case but unlike your well written post the majority of the arguments from the farming side have been basically “it’s not fair “ or Clarkson saying how they’re being penalised .I'll be potentially controversial and I think Pete has a point here.
There's definitely a problem with very wealthy individuals exploiting this tax loophole.
But, it does mean some individuals will get fisted. The owners of traditional smaller family owned farms.
This article does suggest these might be the minority mind...

Analysis: Who owns Britain's farmland? - Farmers Weekly
Land is a finite resource, offering relatively stable, long-term growth, hedging and wealth preservation opportunities. But there has been a changingwww.fwi.co.uk
To add confusion, an older GOVT analysis reckons 54% of agricultural land is owner occupied. This doesn't seem well defined though.

I’ll need to see more but I’ll take some convincing £25m is a suitable cut off point .

Irony is had we will still been in EU the view and voice on small farming in UK would be much louder, and stronger as many countries inside the EU have small farming protected by their own laws. However, we have our own sovereignty now which will suffice. So just talking personally I’ve repeatedly said I’m open to being persuaded that farming is a special case but unlike your well written post the majority of the arguments from the farming side have been basically “it’s not fair “ or Clarkson saying how they’re being penalised .

Here we go "forum sophist" going in for the likes. Is the UK tax system complicated, anyone?
Actually don't care much at all about farming in the context of inheritance tax as i can't see why a farmer's kids are somehow more deserving than any descendant of my family line or anyone's for that matter - who won't be able to take up farming with what is left when I've croaked.
Anyone found it? Closest I can see is this one, probably not on the verge of bringing down the government:
