Good watch that , basically illustrating what many of us have thought that a lot of it is manufactured outrage to protect the extremely wealthy circumventing inheritance tax.
DEFRA state different figures to the Labour Government ..... plus the savings on this act on the farmers is complicated & will cost more to implement ....

So joey you think people leaving say £20m shouldn’t have to pay inheritance tax , or £15m where do you draw a line ? If you don’t have a farm £325k but a farm you’d put the figure at what ?

If you need to check with the daily mail and get back to me that’s fine

Is that a different DEFRA to the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs, which is part of the Labour Government?

Or are you perhaps getting it confused with the CLA, the Country Land and Business Association, which is a private membership organisation for the type of people affected by these changes and so might have partisan reasons for 'estimating' a far higher number than the Government figures in order to whip up public support for their members' taxdodging ways?

In the interest of balance they might be correct and the Government might be wrong, I don't have any way to know for sure, but I sure wouldn't immediately trust the one side personally invested in convincing me so they can gain financially.

Do you want food in the supermarkets ? The simple thing to do was to stop rich people who don't farm by just taxing them heavily for tax avoidance, e.g. the Clarkson & Dyson's of this world who just play at it ....
They did that & agricultural land shot up - making the working farmer have land worth millions & sod all in the fridge ..... some ex Politicians are also Gentleman farmers too ..... average salary of a big farm less than 25 grand a year working around the clock they are working farmers another industry that may go to the wall - we have no industry left - British energy having to buy the turbines from Europe as we close all our steel works down ?
Just crazy IMO £300 off our fuel bills will never be seen, it's going up again in the new year .... I would not trust Ed Miliband to change a lightbulb, never mind run British Energy .... you do a transitional change not close looking for gas & oil down immediately ..... jobs are going everywhere since that budget - the rich left alone Austerity MK 2 IMO

When is any Government correct ?

So I’ve said repeatedly I could be persuaded , I don’t know how I’d legislate for that I’m open to any suggestion though .

If you’ve watch the vids posted earlier, I’m guessing you haven’t , the current available figures from current figures of recent estates of people who’ve died are miles from the DEFRA figures so why such a change in a couple of years ? Also and it’s been said here now reiterated by experts if protecting the estate is so important why not sign it to the kids now ? Job done .

Finally if the whole issue is protecting food security and farm land , clearly a topic close to your heart then you must be outraged last year 56% of farmland purchases last year were by non farmers and 400,000 hectares taken out of farming . Can’t you see so much of this current outrage is generated by the very people buying that land to avoid paying tax .

I am enraged, it's been going on since 1984 - gentleman farmer buying then cheap farmland putting a Tennant working farmer in paying the buttons & claiming the then EU farming grants for themselves -
Starmer pre-election told the NFU conference he would look after the farmers & the budget dropped this on them with no warning land wise the average farmer is worth millions only on land value - that land has to be worked hard to provide our shops with food - they are exempt from inheritance tax, but the majority who work the land are not on big incomes - Starmer is now saying put it in as trust for your families solicitors cost money ....
Labour could have just looked at the big land grabs since 1984 & banged full inheritance tax on them - backdated 10 years is the rule - but I bet you would find many MPs of many parties are in this category maybe ?

Keir Starmer's office have confirmed he'll be off on his latest holiday - this time to Saudi - in two weeks time.

I mean, tbh, I'd GTF out of this cesspit as much as I could if I could afford it, but this feller is the PM. He's been in office since July and spent about 3 weeks in the country.

He loves this country about as much as he loves the net zero policy.
