The expenses scandal was legal; the procurement of medical supplies in the pandemic was legal...

Maybe just focus on what the sleazy gets are doing rather than mithering yourself with legal and illegal...it's parliament, they're pretty much covered by legality in everything they do.

Talk about not being able to see the wood for the trees.

Lol.
So no then . Thanks Dave 👍

Hey Dave, do you fancy volunteering at Pete's pub as well? You could do an educational session on political economy and sleaze in Government.

I really think a few public talks and events would pack the place out and help turn its fortunes around.

Starmer becomes first prime minister to reject membership of Chequers golf course

Sir Keir Starmer has become the first prime minister to reject honorary membership of a golf club linked to the Chequers Estate, breaking with a 100-year tradition. In a letter to the club’s chairman seen by The Telegraph, an aide to the Labour leader said he was “touched” by the offer but would “unfortunately” be declining, without giving an explanation. The reply in October came from one of the Prime Minister’s aides, rather than Sir Keir himself, and spelt the chairman’s name incorrectly.

Ellesborough Golf Club, which is built on land that was originally part of the Chequers Estate in Buckinghamshire, has offered honorary membership to every prime minister since the country retreat was given to the state in 1917. Starting with David Lloyd George, no UK leader has declined the invitation in the 107 years to date.

It makes Sir Keir the first to have rejected the offer outright, prompting claims he is “driven by hatred for the rich”. Michael Knight, who has been a member of the club for more than 30 years, criticised the “crass” response, claiming it showed that Labour was “more driven by hatred of the rich than by love and concern for the poor”.

He told The Telegraph: “I don’t know why he thinks he has any need to reject us out of hand and change 100 years of tradition and history that was gracefully accepted by all of his predecessors. There’s a huge amount of history involved here, and we’re just given two fingers, and that’s that.”

Legend. Two fingers up at the port-quaffing toffs who golf at Chequers. Socialism in action.

What an amazing evening I missed in here.

@Joey66 going into full outrage mode over the Welsh Tourist tax and the name of a mountain! I still don't think he's talking to me after the weight loss drug debate, btw.

Chuck in @peteblue providing his own version of a quasi-linkedin learning masterclass on how to run a loss making business.

I'm also fully expecting the forum monsters @Xizor and @Rita_Poon to volunteer at Pete's pub for the good of the community. Hopefully delivering a free lecture/workshop on business basics to Pete's staff so they can help turn a profit, ensure sustainability and save the village's social and cultural hub long-term beyond Pete's largesse.

Amazing.

Forgot it was the Labour thread 😆 🤣 😂
Labour government well established in Wales ......on topic - past poor performance Starmer started in the same vain ....

“ The Telegraph understands that Reeve’s role at HBOS involved dealing with administrative tasks, IT matters, and projects within the bank’s complaints team.”…who knew that economists had such a varied skill set…….

How much is a golfing membership to the chequers club? Wasn't October when there was some mither about him accepting gifts as well?
