It should be all free.
I agree. Buses, trains, planes, holidays, education (Uni grants), cheap council houses, school milk, season tickets at BMD, MIRAS, school dinners, milk, sugar, eggs, not sure about cake (never got on with Marie Antoinette), female Chancellors, Sky TV, BT/Setanta should all be free.

Nobody should go to work since everything should be 'free'. Apart from the female chancellor ('kin' Tory plagiarist). She should go to work, what a bitch!****

****Sorry if I forgot to mention English people (especially broadcasters on the BBC and ITV), Mancs, Tykes, Scottish people, @Kurt, paddies (NI and EIRE), Chinese people, Indian people, Africans, Afrikaners, Norwegians, Martians, Alpha Centaurions, everyone from the Southern hemisphere, et al.

Let's also give ALL pensioners (ALL because it suits an agenda) a Winter Fuel Allowance (make the connection you utter cockwomble).

My father-in-law told me that Starmer is a c***. I asked him why and he said 'He's taken away our Winter Fuel Allowance'. I said 'But you're very comfortable, you don't need it' and he said ' Yes, but it's nice to treat the grandchildren at Christmas'. This is the reality for some pensioners but you politicise it to suit an agenda. You're actually stupid. Of course some people need it but make the connection.

My father-in-law loved Maggie because he was able to buy his ex-council house for £15,000 and buy shares in BT dirt cheap because the sell off of BT, British Gas and British Steel was at rock bottom because the Tory Govt. had to be seen in a 'favourable light'.

You do give the impression of being a closet Tory. At least @peteblue is honest about it.

I haven't owned a car in ~20 years so you're preaching to the choir. I'm just not sure it's as simple as saying "if we only make it a bit cheaper, lots of people will use it". In London it's used because it's generally the most effective way of getting around.
You live in London. You don't need a car so I'm not sure I get your point.

I see small businesses are going to be hit with the ‘new’ living wage as well as a NI raise. I wonder what Starmer and Reeves think will happen next within these businesses. One mate of mine who owns another pub is already looking to close and turn it into apartments. He currently employs over about 20 staff including a manager, chef, bar staff and waitresses. All of whom will lose their jobs. I met up with our manager yesterday discussing options such as reduced hours, closing one or two days a week etc, all of which will mean less staff and reduced hours. Our pub runs on the basis of just break even but energy costs and no doubt increased brewery costs (as they deal with their own employee costs) will move it into a loss making venture. Ours is the only pub in the village, which we’ve run for the benefit of the village in terms of having a community hub facility and local employment. Starmer and Reeves need to get away from their metropolitan bubble and spend a bit of time with the forgotten folk in the countryside….
My next door neighbour who has his own business (a mate of mine) pays his wife £50,270 a year . She does the square root of FA. She pays nothing on the first £12,570 (her salary) and 8.75% on the rest* (her dividend). That is, she 'earns' £50,270 and pays £3,300 in tax. I suspect he 'earns' £50,270 himself and pays £3,300 in tax. The taxation system is, of course, eminently fair.

Sorry, I forgot. The first £500 of her dividend is not taxed. She's not overly concerned about this.

That's what my mother did with her WFA...

I'm not informed by that lot. I know, as a LP member of old, just how much of a shower of scum the Starmer Gang. I need no instruction from the Tory media.

Various barometers tell us all we need to know. The likes of the Daily Mail head is falling off, like Damien entering Church, its all i need to know.

OBR view on the budget is that it looks like a budget for anaemic growth and destined to fade after a couple of years. Not something the government will have wanted to hear.

There will be other budgets, policy announcements after today to stimulate growth... First stage, was pretty clear.

They are in a very fortunate position. A bit like MP’s paying their spouse’s to run their constituency offices……
