I agree, but I thought they had already started to reign back on it. The public sector wage rise for example. I fully expect a spend spend spend Tory manifesto next GE, Brexit dependent.
That's why they'll lose. They're fighting on territory that only Labour are trusted on: spending.

Daily Mail says Hi.
Well, they preach to swivel-eyed zealots. No loss there. Labour will win by appealing to exactly who they appealed to last time and the disaffected Tory leavers will stay at home.

That's how it'll roll out I would imagine.

Nobody in the history of this country has ever won an election, never mind a majority, without the votes of swivel-eyed zealots

The problem with this is that Corbyn, if he is to be a success, has to win by at least 40 or 50 seats - otherwise the Gapes of this world will become the most powerful people at Westminster and will have a veto over absolutely everything (in the same way that the ERG do now). Simply winning will not be enough.

There will soon be a clearout.

Trust me.

Exactly. The politics of in-group virtue-signalling and the politics of winning real power are very different things.

I think that would be the wrong thing to do; they'd just flounce off en masse, complain they'd been purged and spend every moment between now and then propping up the Government.

They'd be better off empowering CLPs to pick their own candidates (obviously after they'd been vetted to remove the loons) which would have much the same effect as mandatory reselection (as it would cut off the supply line of drones, causing their numbers to drop naturally) and result in much the same thing as mandatory reselection without any of the whining.
